Yoga for skiers?

any particular yoga positions and movements for skiing preparation and maintenance of strength and flexibility.

Yes... all of them.

Physical preparation for skiing should be for the entire body, (and mind) and should be year-round. Yoga is a great additional component to a balanced fitness program.

IMHO if you are new to yoga, start out with a beginner class in Hatha at a reputable studio.

To the OPeees original question I'll contribute this:

The lunge pose (the 5th pose in the Sun Salutation) is a great stretch for the illiopsoas. This is a very important stretch for the quad dominant sport of skiing.

If you're a beginner Yoga practitioner ...go easy and listen to your body.

I have been intrigued by Yoga for years. I have decided to make Yoga part of my fitness recovery program, after I am done with my knee's Physical Therapy.

I have NO doubt that my knee injury this year was due to a large loss of flexibility in my limbs over the past 5 or 6 years due to age.

Im excited to give Yoga a try!
