Straps that hold your ski to your leg (around the boot with about 8" of strap to the ski) are not in use much any longer, streamers being more popular, but I think they still have a sound application for very deep powder. After years of telling myself I would not release on a pow day, I lost a ski in a big sluff last year and don't want to repeat. (found it in July). And, it is nice to have your ski right at your foot when the snow is really deep, so you don't have to hike for it. These straps are hard to find. I thought I might make some up, copying an old set I still have. Any ideas? Any pros or cons for using them at all (aside from getting beat to sh-- by your own skis if you release at speed)? Any innovations to make them quicker to clip on, so you don't get dropped messing with the things?
