What do I wear on top of my new racing skin suit?

Thread Starter
I just bought a POC racing suit (http://www.pocski.com/?m=6&c=5&p=W75011) for masters racing and need to get somethig to wear over it at practice, slalom racing and when its cold. I have a bunch of jackets and vest but I have no pants for the job. I need is a pari of SL shorts.

For the leggs what I can find is basicly a pair of thin windstopper shorts that end above the knees. Dainese has a pair and they are only 52euros. They have no armour and offer no protection. I cannot find any pickture on the net. Should I go for them or do you guys have other suggestions?

I guess a pair of long pants with zippers all the way down should come in handy for cold weather. Can be easily removed just before the run. Any thaughts?

Training shorts would be best.

On colder league nights - dry not wet nights - I wear a pair of old school cut off grey sweatpants. They come right off over boots and stuff into the arm of my coat for the trip down to the finish.

But do note Racer256's caveat "dry not wet nights". When cotton gets wet, unlike wool, it gets insanely cold.

I have 2 pairs of ski pants with full length side zippers for the really cold days and a pair of SL shorts.

It's good to have both. On colder race days, I will take a backpack with an extra pair of pants and a jacket. I will leave that at the bottom of the race hill, so I have some clothes to put on before the cold ride on the chairlift.

My friend has a son on HS ski team. She got him some thermo heat packs, like you'd use for back pain. Like hand warmers, on the bitter cold race nights, he keeps his core warm which helps a lot.
