Why not just do a t-neck mid-weight stretch layer + something like Patagucci R2 or R4 vest or jacket (or anything roughly similar according to your specific needs & prefs) under a top quality shell. Add good gloves and maybe a neck gator (and appropriate lower body stuff) and you are good to go in just about any situation. Open up some venting & warmer afternoons are fine...
Purpose: extra warmth to wear over windstopper-type softshell on moderately cold days and beneath gore tex shell for cold days. I also just love vests. I like how they look and how they feel, but the big puffy ones are too bulky when I wear them underneath a shell, so I'm looking for something less bulky. Prima Loft seems like the ticket, but I can't find any decent-looking Prima Loft vests anywhere. I also wonder whether something trad like the 300 weight THF Denali vest might be a wiser, more versatile choice.

Try the US Ski Team site and look under the ... store or shop ... They have a quilted Spyder vest and with those noo DeeNASTARS super duper GS sticks, you will be right in style. Price was $89.
Patagonia has always had good stuff but I think their prices are way out of hand now. They had a great warranty (lifetime), that I never took advantage of because I was to embarrased to bring in shirts with the elbows worn out ... even though the sales guy said they would honor it!
I can see where you are coming from regarding the puffy down vests. I have had one on all week under a fleece and it's annoying so I have been looking for the same thing, but more for work ... in and out of the car .. and while I'm driving that puffy down collar around my ears drives me nuts.
Bottom line is ... hey, it's the Poconos ... how bad does it get here and with the lodge only 600 vertical away .... it ain't like our lives are at stake!
LOL on the poconos comment. I really do LOVE the look of that Spyder vest, but I think I'd get my arse laughed off the mountain -- I'm already in deep do-do with my race skis and my very upper intermediate skills. I just don't have the credibility to wear it. It vest would cross the line into total, unmitigated gaperhood. Still, wow, nice looking threads.
