Svindal today!! Hope he's okay, but a full face would have avoided his bloody cut up face.

Once you have a few face first falls on some hard surfaces you will understand. A full face helmet is great if you are staying within the intended purpose/use/benefits of the helmet. If you're buying one for general skiing outside of large jumps/cliffs and potential impact with rocks - you stand a very high chance of becoming a vicitm of natural selection.

Do you think that FIS/USSA would not allow them for no good reason?

I argee with not wearing one as a stated above, 99 percent of the people out there really dont need this, its all about want though.

I just wanted to see the rules and why FIS/USSA doesnt allow them.

FIS Rules for Ski Racing: http://my.ussa.org/sites/default/files/documents/athletics/alpine/2013-14/documents/121107-helmet-rule-final.pdf

It doesn't say no full-face helmet, but helmet must conform to a maximum allowable decelleration-during-impact specification.
Also no "spoilers or edges that protrude"

I've never been anal about helmets. Sometimes I wear them and sometimes I don't.
Today I showed up at a popular XC Mtb spot.
It was hot and I only had a FF Dh helmet, so ditch it. I had a bunch of people comment on the no lid. This was Blm and they're not required.
Do people really care, if some doesn't wear a helmet?

It just shows how dedicated he is to redirecting our wandering attention to what we all know is such a woefully neglected topic.

He is to be applauded for his efforts!
