I just moved to Denver for a job, and recently bought a Colorado Pass and am interested in buying my first pair of skis. I'm 28 and have skied about a week each year for the last 14 years, but I'm hoping to get a lot more in now that I'm finally living in ski country. While my technique is far from great, I enjoy challenging myself by tackling steeper runs with bumps. I'm looking for a ski that I can cruise comfortably on, while at the same time help me to improve my technique on the bumps. Speed is not a high priority. I'm 5-10 175 pounds. Any suggestions would help a bunch, including particular skis and boots to check out, suggested length of ski (I'm guessing around 172) as well as how much I should expect to spend. I am looking at a pair of Salomons X-Wing Hurricanes (06 models) on clearance from REI, but don't know if their the right ones for me. Thanks in advance.
