meet on the hill thread alert?

Thread Starter
Hopefully I can explain this well enough....
Is there some way to get some kind of alert when a user selectable keyword ( such as Mammoth or Los Angeles, etc) shows up in the title of a meeting thread? The idea is to facilitate more meetings. If it is possible, maybe part of the registration process can include this option.

Pretty neat idea. I sure don't know how to do it.

Miles, if I go to Mammoth, I'll be sure to send you a PM. I'm sure Dookey will now do the same. Hey, if you ever want to slarve some turns at Kirkwood, let me know.

word up to that!

and if you ever make it to the North Shore (Alpine, Squaw, Sugarbowl)...

i still need to hit Mammoth up when they actually have snow. I've now been there a half dozen times, the first 4 just for fishing and hiking (back when i was a wee lad) and the last 2 for spring/summer slush fund action.

OK, consider this "beta" as I haven't fully tested it yet, but I've used it for other feeds before with success:
  • Go to www.zaptxt.com
  • Click on "Start Here" on the right.
  • Paste
    Code:
    http://forums.epicski.com/external.php?forumids=17

into the "Website/feed to monitor" box.
  • Add your keywords, and check the "tips" on how to do so.
  • Click "next step" and follow instructions.
You can get these alerts sent to you once a day, hourly, etc. You can get them as text messages, emails, or IMs, or some combo of the three.

Hope this helps.

Confirmed this worked and my test post got the alert sent...elapsed time of a bit less than an hour it looks like.

Not as cool as integrating the process into registration, but could be useful for some bears.
