Snow Basin -- Where to stay

Thread Starter
I'm looking to ski at Snow Basin, UT for four days in late January. What's my best lodging option? Hotel or 1 bdrm condo. Need not be cheap. Conveninece & comfort is a higher priorty this time around. Lodging lift/ticket package would help. Close proximity to lifts and to restaurants are a priority. I don't want to spend a lot of time driving around for either. Suggestions?

Yeah, go somewhere else.

Well, your going to have a hard time finding that at Snowbasin. It has great skiing, but no lodging or restaruants in site. So unless, you stay in Ogden, you may want to try Park City.

The closest lodging is going to be in Ogden Valley (a mountain valley between Snowbasin and Powder Mountain not where Ogden is located) which is at least 8 or so miles away and 10 or 15 minutes from the lifts. You are also not likely to be close to more than a few limited dining options. Ogden (the city) is more like 15 or 20 miles away and there will be more restaurant options but it will take you 25 minutes or so to get to the skiing. Layton has a number of hotels and about as close (from a time perspective) and has numerous chain-type restaurants. Park City or Salt Lake City to Snowbasin is about an hour (give or take).

You should look here: http://www.vrbo.com. Select "Utah" and then "Powder Mountain, Eden". Moose Hollow is a nice condo resort, which is ~ 5 minutes from Snowbasin, along with lot's of other places close by in Eden as well.

I pretty much agree. We stayed at the Red Moose Lodge in Eden last year. The place looks good but misses on a lot of things -- roms were large but walls were thin, not enough lightening or drawer space in rooms, and what adults drink apple juice with breakfeast? But they had a package deal with both Powder Mountain and Snowbasin. Not much dining or drinking options in the area. We really had a fun trip. We REALLY LIKED both Powder Mountain and Snowbasin but until things are somewhat more developed in that area I'm not sure we'd spend another week there. Downtown Ogden would probably be the closest place with some varied dining options.

Hopefully the lake will be frozen. Will have to use the hovercraft to get across then jet pack up to the base.

Doesn't the Mayor of Ogden have some kind of scheme going on, like hourly dirigible flights from 25th street to the top of Mt. Ogden?

Gee ... on the left just before the turn onto Trappers Loop Rd. is a huge complex of condos. Me thinks these are Moose Hollow condos ... surely not 17 miles, and yes ~ 5-minutes to Snowbasin.

Oops, these are Lakeside Village condos ... I'm aware of Moose Hollow in Eden, headed up the mountain to PowMow, but mistakenly got confused

The mayor of O-town has all kinds of schemes, but the snowbasin transport plan involves meth-powered transients I believe.

We stayed here

a year ago and really, really liked it. It's probably a 20 minute drive from Snowbasin. We enjoyed it so much that we're going back again this coming February.
