Loveland has won the battle with Arapahoe Basin and will open today. Arapahoe is targeting Friday. Copper will open Saturday with skiing on the intermediate Ptarmigan trail.

Let the season begin!

I'm soooooooooooooooo jealous. They are calling for 70° here again this weekend. When will winter weather kick in, the teasing is getting old.

Taylormatt-
Don't be! Just because they are open, and they are sliding, doesn't mean its any good.

All those people, compressed onto a single ribbon of death isn't that much fun...

I drove past both areas on Sunday afternoon, and it looked rather surreal- absolutely no snow anywhere except on the few trails with snowmaking. And not even very much there.

Ric- it is funny that you use that term- my friend who is a patroller at Loveland says that is just what they call opening day- "The White Ribbon of Death"!! Still, I can't wait to get my first turns in, but I suppose it will not be for a couple of more weeks. They are predicting REAL snow all weekend, so we can keep our hopes up!

I remember what it was like, I used to always be there the first few days it opened jammed elbow to elbow on Mambo.

But...it's skiing. Beats what I have, 70° and at least 4 more weeks of waiting until I'm sliding down Wagner elbow to elbow on a whopping 600' ribbon of death :

Really stoked about getting back to Vail in January and checking out Blue Sky!
