Am I proud of what I do? Definitely. But my job is not a way to "make a few extra bucks." I am a professional, and there are days when people live or die depending on how well I do my job. And I take that pretty seriously.
For the record, I personally don't work for a union patrol, but we have talked about it. Steamboat's patrol is union, as is Breckenridge, Crested Butte and Aspen/Snowmass, to name a few.
And unless you've patrolled professionally at a major resort like the Canyons, I suggest you refrain from insulting those who do.
