Weird, Snowbird's site says 0 inches received this week...are they just not updating it?

Maybe the Bird isn't fully staffed yet. It's been dumping all over Utah the last couple days. The roads have been a joke, lots of crashes- winter seems to be a big suprise every year. We had about 4 inches at the base in PC, and even the Valley got some. Up high they've been getting accumulation and keeping it. More on the way this weekend.

Curious how SB isn't reflecting actual snow depths.

Mr. Crab is right on point. The storm coming in Saturday (tomorrow) is projected to dump 16" at mid-mountain.

There will be accumulations on the valley floor - about 4400ft.

At this rate they may move the opening day up. Last night on the local news they filmed ppl hiking up and taking the first runs of the season.

I am hoping this keeps up. I am heading out to Utah in mid December (I know, long way off). I would really be crushed if I got out there and skied the kind of snow I could have skied in Michigan.

usually when I travel out west it snows in vt.

See that nice article in Ski about the Alta lodges? People come back year after year, often to the same room. I half wish they hadn't written it- Alta is more crowded these days, but it's always great to read about the place. Don't worry, the snow will be here.

Life is 90% showing up in the right place, 10% showing up at the right time. Alas, it's that last 10% that's so hard.

You guys are killing me. I've got to get my sh*t organized. All I need are shovel, skins, peeps and avi course. Seems there's no end of friends willing to drag me up there. Once the lifts are running, I'm home, but this pre season stuff is really hard to sit on the bench for...

FYI really real world experince is the best and alta right now all though its **** show I am will to bet that its pretty safe in a event of mistake that leads to a slide. There are literally 100s of people to respond to anything up there.

your 179 bros would be great to tour on.

Wackerman; I bit the bullet and got the gear. The avi course will have to wait a couple weeks, but with several experienced people with me and a bunch on the hill, I figure I can take orders. I didn't want to go up there ill equiped and be the weak link.

I've seen the Shoulder let go and slide all the way down Main Street - last year. So you never know. Meantime, I'm set up to join some friends on the annual skin up at Deer Valley, once we get more snow on this side. Pop that Champaign!

P.S. Bros are mounted alpine. I have the blem Bros which will be getting Tourlite Techs...
