I have been on various types of racing skis for 16 years but only tried
recreational racing for the first time last year. While I was able to negotiate the various courses ok and did get some pointers from a coach
I did not feel that racing would be my thing due to a lot of standing around freezing my butt off waiting my turn. One of the race courses was
a Super G course and I took a pair of Volkl AC4s which were a fun ski. I only did training runs on the Super G course and on the one fall that I did
have the guy that picked me up said I looked good just prior, so the coaching tips must have been of benefit. I was told also my fall could have been due to having my bindings on my recreational setting of 8.
One thing I did find was my GS Volkl P50 race skis were too long for the GS
race course as I could not get a tight enough carve through the gates.
I will at some stage give racing another go having made a start but I think
I am more a racing gear head than a racer.
