This second run of the mens slalom is excellent. It is a very difficult course. That is all I will say for now. (and only 6 skiers have left the start gate so far)

OK, I'm not going to spoil it for you, but Martin Bell is no longer Britains best ever male Olympic skier.

First the women's curling team, now Alain!

And thanx for the well-meant sentiment, Robin, but you'll note Alain has a Saltire on his head, not a Union Jack!

Oh, flower of Scotland

When will we see your like again

That fought and died for

Your wee bit, hell and glen...

I was welling up, jumping up and down, screaming myself hoarse, cheering, wooping and praising the bonnie bonnie lands of home...

What an unbelievable race. Wish I was in Aviemore tonight.

Brings tears to my eyes and I was not even born a Scot
Aviemore is celebrating tonight and it looks like being a good day on Cairngorm tomorrow, doesn't get any better

Alain Baxter's bronze medal in the Salt Lake slalom was - let's record it here - the greatest British ski performance in history.

As an ex-Cairngorm instructor I, too, really wish I was in Aviemore to celebrate tonight.
Heartfelt congratulations to Alain, the Baxter family, and to his home town of Aviemore!

Have a great party, guys!
