Need Resort suggestions

Our family trip to Deer Valley in Feb just got nixed - we couldn't trade our timeshare this time. Any suggestions for a family resort that offers day time activities for non-skiers too? Super-grade A, "best skiing in the world" is not needed, we just want to get away as a family and ski too.

We want to stay in the U.S.; We've been to Smugglers, not sure where else to look - I know all the big named places, but know nothing about them.

Thanks,

Scott

Well if you want stay in the Deer Valley vein; good skiing next to a good town for non skiers, but on the upscale end of the spectrum then some candidates in western US are Aspen/Snowmass, Vail, Steamboat, Breckenridge, Heavenly. In the East you might like Stowe, Lake Placid/Whiteface, or Stratton/Bromley near Manchester, VT.

What are the preferred daytime activities for the non-skiers? Active - like indoor tennis, ice skating, tubing, snowshoeing, etc., or passive - like sightseeing, shopping, bar/restaurant hopping, movie theater, etc.? Is the "spa life" important?

If a little high rollin' sounds of interest too, Heavenly has all of it covered. You can go Motel 6 or penthouse and anything in between. S. Lake Tahoe ... you should do it at least once in your life.

One thought if you don't mind driving a little is to get a place in Coeur d'Alene, ID and you've got a pretty easy drive to skiing to either Silver Mountain or Schweitzer in the morning.

I'd suggest Telluride.

Vail is a lot of fun. Lots of stuff to do in the village or on the mountain.
Heavenly, in South Lake Tahoe is fun too.
Aspen/Snowmass probably too, but I've not been there.
