Wow! I wish I had found the EpicSki community when I moved to Cali four years ago.
I never expected such a great response. I’m up for skiing any of the North Shore resorts. Thanks for the awesome advice on different local schools and instructors. I’ll be setting something up soon. Unfortunately because of some work commitments I won’t be skiing until the end of January. After that… I’ll be able to escape from work every once in a while during the week to rendezvous and I’m up on the slopes all weekend.
My background: I’ve been skiing Squaw for the last three seasons and I’m able to ski a lot of the mountain (a relative term I know) I usually ski off of the groomers in the bumps and trees. I can make it down most terrain; however I have difficulty linking quick turns (think I’m leaning back). I work out a lot and I do ski specific exercise, plyometrics, and balancing drills.
My goals: To progress to steeper terrain and to make quicker and tighter turns. To stop getting in the damn back seat when ever I get airborne off a jump (and then I get toe bang and black toe). For a pro boot fitter to take a good look at my boots to make sure I’m in the right boot for my body and skiing. Also when the pow gets deep, I have no clue what to do. I’d like to occasionally huck off a cliff or two.
Basically I want to get off the plateau that I’ve been on for the last few years and show progression. Making new friends and being challenged are going to be the best part.
AND HAVE FUN!
Of those who have expressed interest, I've skied with Cirque on two different occassions (KW and Squaw). Skied with Adam, but only groomers before we broke off into differnt groups at KW (which is when I ended up riding with Cirque in the Palisades and elsewhere). Not sure where I fit in, but I'm game and Cirque can probably offer up a rough assessment of my skills.
intrigued by the prospects, that's for sure.
So, thx for the bump, Adam.
It looked like stormday could do 12/7.
so we'd have cirq, adam, dookey, stormday?.
cirq, could you check w/ sierra jim, see if he'd be #5?
Eric, could you shoot out what we could do for this group through your AMSP bookings (w/ full insurance at sugar bowl) so they know what you'd have to charge?
I think with 4 or 5, Eric and I would probably work together the first day, and then if it's pretty cohesive group of that size, we'd switch out days for jan, feb, mar, april. With 6 to 8, we'd probably both make all the days. (E?)
I just found this thread today and it sounds all good to me.
I'm in if there's room and if I fit into the group. I've skiied a day with Cirque and some with dookey on the groomers. I've skiied a little bit more with Adam when we met up at K'wood. This will be my 4th season skiing and I'd like to be better on the steeps and bumps.
Fridays are a better fit for me, I could make Thursdays work with some effort and grief. Let me know if there is still room. I'm praying for storms, big wet cold ones.
