I wasn't sure where to post this one.

I do a good deal of winter hiking and dog walking in the winter months. There usually isn't enough snowcover here to snowshoe. I was wondering what people use on their boots to keep from sliding. In the consistent freeze/thaw here in WV, it gets pretty icey on the trails. No Crampons please. Some of the 'sour doughs' I met in AK put screws through the soles of their shoes. I can't get myself to 'ruin' my boots like this. My wife has some Yak Trax she wears at work, doing home health visits. I question whether the Yak Trax would hold up to hiking and light running? I was wondering what else people use?
