Hello Sliders!

Boreal Mountain Resort is scheduled to open October 31st,
or as soon as condition permit. It's a riders paradise and a
short drive up Interstate 80 from both Sacramento and the Bay Area.

Just got this, Hot off the email wire.:

Well it's pouring rain here in SF. They were talking about 1/4-1/2" of rain today. I think we are over 1" so far and it's still pouring.

Snow level is supposed to be about 6500 so Boreal should be getting snow. Wet snow but snow..

Sugarbowl is showing 4-8" new snow so far, and they have not even been hit with the brunt of the storm.

This could be good!

I can hear the rain falling on my office rooftop here in Sacramento. Actually some of the guys from work played around at Alpine Meadows on Wednesday.

yup...been raining most of the day here in folsom. should be snowing up high.

here's the current shot from the Kirkwood webcam:

About an hour ago you could see the top of the Wall, but now it's all socked in

I think something decent is brewing for the middle to end of next week (keeping fingers crossed).

definitely a more promising start than last year at this time!

After seeing those pics, (unfortunately, or fortunately, we were not seen)
I really didn't remember the snow being so good. But I do remember staying at south shore during the xmas holliday, we were unable to get out of town either north or south due to heavy snow. We finally had to drive the east side of the lake and went to Northstar, corse by the time we got there we only had 1/2 sking. Lotsa snow that year. REPEAT!!!!!!!!!

I remember the conditions at Sierra @ Tahoe was not very good, they only ran Tahoe King lift on the backside, as a result, we have to wait half an hour to get to the back side, the 2354 photo was taken when I was waiting on queue at Tahoe King.

But the conditions at Squaw was much better, 2343a photo shows a line of skiers(circled) hiking to back bowl of Gold Coast and jump over the cliffs. They did not open up three sisters.

My fingers are crossed but after last season I'm skeptical (the storm before the calm).

okay, unless Boreal has purchased an uber snowmaker and unless the weather kicks in and unless temps drastically drop, i think Oct. 31 is something of a pipe dream.

I was in T'hoe over the weekend. and while it rained all day Friday down in SF, it also rained up there (i.e. no snowfall). i snapped pix of SB, DSR, AM, Squaw, and stopped off at Boreal. Of all of them Boreal and Donner Ski Ranch were the most barren.

So, unless things change a lot in the next two weeks, Boreal will be hosting mud skiing at best.

(sorry if I burst the bubble of stoke, but i'm something of a realistic romantic or romantic realist, if you will).
