TGR Smaller?

Is it my imagination, or is TGR a lot less busy than it used to be? I could totally be making this up -- in which case you can jong me -- but I seem to remember a higher number of users online and busier threads.

If so, what happened????

I've been to TGR a few times, would like it if the background colors could be changed or turned off. I don't dig reading text on a dark background.

I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong -- I just had a look at it seemed real damn busy!

Good one!

I think it's the whole beefcake affair; that's kept the place hopping the last couple days - but, at any time, on tgr, it's about impossible to keep up with the threads.

They don't have trotski polls over there. That's why.

(yes, you're making this up).

Jer has nailed down the poll title lately.

That was so one month ago.

Trot - you post on TGR?? Did you post the killer TR featuring you skiing your 217 Atomic DH's on some farmer's corn field?

Link please.

Interestingly enough I have seen more epik skiers asking for pics and discussing "the poopenhausen" sic. The increase in length and width of "skies" confirms the boards really are enjoying an exchange of ambassadors and general detante. You know who you are.

I actually spend most of my time over there...I've felt like there's generally way more going on over there than here, but this place is starting to get interesting again, just like every winter.

No, no. I'd never fit in over there. Reasons:
  • I'm too full of BS
  • I'm addicted to Viagra
  • I'm big on spelling and grammar
  • I have a fragile ego
  • I can't keep up with specialized TGR vocabulary
  • Above all, I'm not a good enough skier!
I lurk occasionally. It's pretty funny sometimes, gotta admit.

I've noticed the same thing. TGR seems to have more going on during the summer.

I do enjoy both.

Except for #2 and #5, sounds like you're completely qualified to post over there.
Too many Jer(k) types over there recently may be keeping some regulars away.
I need to pay closer attention because I don't remember a TR of anyone with 217 Atomics in a field.

  • I can't keep up with specialized TGR vocabulary And you can here ? With all these instructors ?
  • Above all, I'm not a good enough skier! Can you stand on your skis in the living room ? You qualify .

Without your permission I altered your post.

Not everyone there is (trying to be) some uber talented "XTREEEEEEME" skier. There are plenty of people that do it just cus they love to do it. Just like here.

It is difficult enough on Epic to work out what 'gapers' & 'newbies' mean - never mind words like 'rain cheque'. I still have no idea whatsoever what 'jong' means. I suspect that even if I knew it would be unlikely to feature in my future vocabulary. That in itself would prevent me from engaging the mandatory flame-war type arguments on TGR.

There is also an assumed knowledge of popular beat combos and the latest fashions which I do not have.

On Epic, some old git will occasionally refer to the Grateful Dead.

Occasionally a younger individual will refer to the ....err... Grateful Dead.

At least I know who the Grateful Dead are.

It was Dexter Ruteki's first (and last) ski related post. Not completely sure it was a corn field, but it was dead flat with what looked like cornstalks poking through the 6" of snow.

BTW - the Jer(k) thing is pure genius! Haven't heard that 500 times before. You get an extra smilie-face for originality.
Ya maybe its a bit slower...
user - the word gaper is overused - sure likes creating new threads! and Beefcake has made a valiant effort at keeping us entertained :

where's the TR about the corn field?

also, after riding with some Bears and Maggots, there's not really a whole lotta difference.

some of the Bears I've shared turns with are a bit older and some of the Maggots a little younger, but everybody just likes to ski and have a good time (at least the folks I've been lucky enough to ski with). I will say that the Bears I've skied with were a bit more regimented and organized and the Maggots were kind of a little "devil may care," if you will.

But none of the folks I've ridden with flexed any ego crap. Pretty much we'd connect, ride and break off into like-minded groups. I've ended up out in the gnar with some serious heads and didn't get any flack for "pussing out" and not ripping some rock laden chute. Which was cool by me.

I am sorta thinking that most of the TGR folks have day jobs that might take them away from computers (construction, traveling, etc), then again that might just be some bugged out "stereotype" I've picked up from the style of postings.

also i know there was the whole thing with TGR being sold...that was a huge issue earlier in the year. I don't know what happened with that and what type of effect it had on the posts, though.
