Shop to have boots worked on in the East?

Need to get some evaluation and work done on my boots (canting and alignment). My local place does a decent job, but I want to go somewhere where they work with higher performance boots and fitments.

Ill be at Stratton this December for vacation and found this place online:

Anyone have experience with them? Good work, prices, satisfaction?

Previously I had work done by Benny at Stowe, would go back to him but I dont know if I will make it there this season. So I am looking at other options.

I'd had some work done at green mountain two seasons ago and thought they were terrific. The owner Jeff, has since sold and moved his base to vail and I've heard ancedotally that the service and quality of assessment has really fallen off.

I deal with this place in Jersey, though that might be a ride for you.

The former owner was Greg Hoffman. The current owner is Bill Haight(spelling?) They're great! They're right on the mountain, the back door opens onto the snow. Make an appointment as they get very busy and make the appointment early in the season.

I went to GMOL during Thanksiving week last year. As in earlier years the servie was incredibly accurate, however, perhaps because it was so early in the season, the service was quite time consuming compared to earlier years. Still in all, I'd rather have accuracy than speed in dialing in boots.

its a 2 hr drive but billy Kaplan is incredible. He goes by Cantman here. I drive an hour to get to him but woudl gladly drive the 2 hours based on the work he did on my boots. I think others here, Nipn' tuck, Coal miner and others will attest to his skills.

Well, there is East and there is East. I live in Maine and until last year, VT was the farthest West I had ever skied. If you are in the "Far East" (ME, NH) my top choice is Dan Lewis at Stan and Dan Sports in North Conway, NH. Dan does great boot and foot bed work. I drive an hour from Maine to see Dan. I've been to many shops in the East, but Dan is very skilled and will also listen to your thoughts and needs. I highly recommend him.

Just saw this thread and wanted to add another thumbs up for Bill Kaplan. I went to see him my first time yesterday for advice on choosing a pair of boots -- he was awesome. I'm no expert and I've never worked with another boot fitter but I definitely think he knows his stuff and takes the art and science of boot fitting seriously. He's doing this because he loves it, and it shows. Once I pick out a boot from the list he gave me I'll be going back to him to have it fitted.

Anyone have a great fitter that they can recommend in the NY metro area? I want to have the boots aligned before I go away.

In the Boston area Phil Burgess at Ski Stop in Westwood is fantastic.

Stan and Dan's North Conway NH

I would second going to see Dan at Stan and Dans ski shop in North Conway NH. He has been doing bootwork for local race teams for years and is very knowledgable. Not only did he find me the boot I wanted when my size was sold out everywhere I looked, but he made them fit the way a boot three sizes smaller than a street shoe is supposed to fit! Well worth the drive, but if you are coming from further west, try Inner Bootworks on the Mountain Road in Stowe.

Glad to be here. I started a thread trying to get some advice from somebody about my size (about 5'7 155) about some dynastar skis http://forums.epicski.com/showthread.php?t=63070 hopefully someone can help me out. I am an instructor at Jay Peak and will be teaching at Nashoba Valley this season too, I have been teaching three years and have not yet registered with the PSIA, although I plan on fast-tracking this season and hopefully getting my level 1 and 2. Should I / Can I register as an instructor at this site?
