Northstar just sent out an email blast claiming that they've gotten 6" of snow and that they will be opening on November 17th.

none of the other resorts have posted there's yet, to the best of my knowledge.

on a slightly related note, i've never made an opening day, if you can believe that. might have to change that this year.

2 seasons ago was actually my first closing day, as well (hit up JH and actually squeezed onto the last official winter tram, which totally made the trip worth it).

yeah, Kirkwood announced 11/24 as their date way back in early September (9/4 is the date stamp on that link above).

Has Boreal started work on their ribbon of death yet?

i'll scope out the Boreal ROD tomorrow morning...headed to T'Hoe for my cousin's wedding. He's having it at River Ranch, so I'll scout out Alpine, Squaw, and those spots on the pass.

then i'll figure out how to upload pix (ludite that i am).

Dookey, drop them on http://photobucket.com

then just copy and paste the IMG code at the bottom of the image to your post here. Works like magic. There is a stickey around here somewhere with specific instructions.

Not as of mid day on Monday. Still seems a bit warm during the midday to think about making snow.

Wow......your threat to hold your breath until they opened must be working, keep it up.

Heavenly has posted 11/16. Another thread rumored 10/31 for Boreal. I think I'll hit whichever ribbon of death opens first this year. Need to get an early start on tuning up the turns to be ready for the epic dump that will surely come! Maybe we'll get enough of a dump for an early Kirkwood opening. I know, dream on.

I'm in Reno the week before thanksgiving week, so I'll be skiing somewhere on 11/17 and 11/18 for sure. Hopefully sooner than that. Can't wait.

was just in Tahoe over the weekend.

Friday it rained from SF all the way up to River Ranch. No snowfall at 6000, that's for sure.

there was some residual snow as low as Kingvale, but most of the mountains are only snowcapped with plenty of dirt and shrubs still visible down low.

i snapped pix of Sugarbowl, Donner Ski Ranch, Alpine Meadows, Squaw, and Boreal...will post when i have the time and rejuice up the camera battery.

so far no WROD to be had, that's for sheezy.
