Boots for an 11 year old racer

It's another new ski year and another year my girl needs boots. Here's the info:

Racer (middle of the pack)
11 years old
95 lbs
average height and build
strong but not especially agressive

Last year she had Lange Team 70s which seemed to work well for her. This year I'm being told she should move to the Head Team 80 for extra stiffness. I'm concerned that these might be too stiff. She has had trouble staying forward in the past and had a heel wedge in her boot last year. I don't want anything that is going to make it harder to get forward.

Do any of the boot guys have advice?

Thanks in advance.

Just saw no one replied to you. Sorry. The heel wedge may have been one of the reasons your daughter could not stay forward. If it is one of the hard black plastic wedges bandied about most shops it is almost certainly substantially too much ramp angle for a little girl. Definitely.

As far as staying forward goes excess boot stiffness is only one of the root causes and in my opinion perhaps not the major one. I believe that excess ramp angle and bindings to far back are more likely to be a problem.

95 lb girly should be able to crush a 70. Doubt if boot stiffness is the problem.
