The Devil Went Down To Steamboat

The devil went down to Steamboat
He was looking for a slope to ski
And he had no fees
But he needed skis
And was willin' to make a deal.

When he came upon this young man
Sellin’ skis and sellin’ them hot.
The devil jumped up on a hickory
boards and said,
"Boy let me tell you what:

I bet you didn't know it
but I'm a alpine skier too,
And if you care to take a dare
I'll make a bet with you
Now you carve a pretty good turn,
But give the devil his due
I'll bet a deal between Blizzard and Dalbello against your soul
'Cause I think I'm better than you."

The boy said, "My name's Philpug
And it might be deserve a ban
But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret
'Cause I'm the best that's ever been."

Philpug you tune up your Blizzards and carve your
turns hard 'Cause powder’s broke loose in Steamboat
And the devil steals his Blizzards
And if you win you get the deal that will make you gold
But if you lose the devil gets your soul.

The devil opened up his quiver and he said,
"I'll start this rift."
And fire flew from his two ski tips

As he rosined up the lift
And he buckled his straps across his boots
And it made an evil hiss
Then a band of Ski Divas joined in
And it sounded something like this

When the devil finished Philpug said,
"Well you're pretty good ol' son!
But sit down in that lift chair right there
And let me show you how it's done!"

Snow on the mountain, Bark Bears Bark
Devil's in the lodge of the Carving Arc
Barking Bears in the Demo Shop, tryin’ out skis
Phil are you sure I should ski these?

The devil popped his bindings
Because he knew that he'd been beat,
And he made that golden merger
And laid Philpug's new gear upon his feet.
Philpug said, "Devil, just come on back
if you ever wanna ski it again.
I done told you once,
You son-of-a-bitch,
I'm the best that's ever been!"

Funny, but I ban only give it a B+ without an Inferno reference for old school cred.

I forgot this one. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

Lennon and McCartney couldn't have done better.

Oh ya, and that apple. When it falls, don't let it hit your head.

Sorry Philpug, but I'd chose the Devil for a tour anyday!

Sorry Philpug, but after the 'rock hoppin' tour that you and Iripanov gave at Kmart last winter, I don't know that you'd beat the devil in Powder... All I saw was HS carving, and definitely nothing like the 'midfats' that were recommended in the ad.

My friend is an epicski.com member, as am I now, and he sent me the info on the tour. I was so psyched to be skiing with someone who was going to show us the mountain and discuss technique, ski buying, etc, in the form of a 'clinic'. Specific mention was given to wearing rock skis, so I'm thinking off piste, or 'quiet' trails... We met you guys at the waffle house at 10am, and we had already been skiing for 1 1/2 hours. The first run you guys took us down was a run we did an hour before, but it was now completely skied off. You all were also wearing the Supercross skis, so we knew right away that it wasn't going to be anything like we expected. We're not high speed GS carvers and that was all you guys did the first few runs. You made no effort to keep the group together and just got in line. We spotted some peeps from the group, but couldn't see any 'group' anymore, so after following a few guys for a couple runs on skied off slopes, I convinced him to do our own tour and enjoy some nice snow that we always manage to find, and had already been skiing. Our #1 goal is to find the POW and ski it. As far as I was concerned you guys made no effort to follow through with what you advertised as a 'ski buying, skill assessing, rock hoppin tour/clinic'. We were both completely dissappointed to say the least. We ended up searching for and finding Coops cabin, as we had only seen it on Google earth previously. We also ran into a couple guys and we gave them a tour of the mountain ourselves showing them some nice snow until they couldn't do it anymore.

So, before you advertise such an event again, you should consider whether or not you can actually deliver as promised, and promise much less. Things like 'we're only interested in GS skiing on groomers or skied-off trails' is important info for people who might be interested in joining the group. That turned out to be one of my best days ever at Kmart, and the only 'bad' memory was the two runs with you guys...sorry, but this had to be said since it was complete mis-representin...my rating on the 'tour':
