I found a pair of new 04-05 VR17 Slaloms (173cm) with retro Black and Yellow graphics at a liquidation sale last year and bought them because they were cheap ($59.99) and I'm a cheap gear whore. I remeber the glory days of Dynamic (sort of) and distinctly remember Rosi Mittermier skied on VR17s to win the gold in the '76 GS.
I had heard they were re-branded Atomics, but the measurements don't match anything that I've been able to find in Atomic's line - maybe similar to the SL9, but Phil confirmed the tip-waist-tail mesurments are different. I would say that these are slalom carvers and not real race skis (the VR27 is their race line). In short...I love them. I put Atomic 614 bindings on them (they have an Atomic plate on them) and the VarioZone allows me to move them 2.5 cm fore and aft of the midpoint. I like them a lot in the forward-most position for bumps, trees, and short icy runs. When they're all the way back, they carve (almost) GS style turns. In the mid position, they don't do anything well.
