08 Nordica Enforcer 185 VS O7 Seth Vicious 189

I've got my powder ski narrowed down to two candidates. Although I'm unable to make my final decision. I've done various searches and have found little, especially on the Nordica Enforcer. Currently, I'm skiing the Big Trouble from Dynastar in a 186, It does have a bit of tip dive in deeper snow, but overall handles well. I'm 6'2 210... My groomer ski this year will be the Head SuperShape Magnum 177. I've read all magazine reviews on this year's Enforcer and Last Years Vicious, I'm looking for someone who has skied these and can give me some thoughts. Thanks

I have the Enforcer. Despite it's colossal size (it skis and feels bigger than my Gotamas), it is a bad powder ski. It absolutely destroys crud and rips on harder snow, but in real powder, it's "AAAA-OOO-GAAAHHH Prepare to dive!

That's the very thing I'm trying to avoid. Do you believe the mounting point has anything to do with the dive?

Sounds like a winner to me...

Could be. I mounted mine between the two lines, which coincidentally was BOF on the center. Maybe going back would have helped. That said, if what you want is a POWDER ski, there are many better options.

07's here for sale http://forums.epicski.com/showthread.php?t=59105

IF you want a 179, I will take offers.

179 too short for me. By the way, how did you like them? Your selling them so I'm wondering why?

Welcome to Epic. I change skis A LOT. I will be switching over to Elan 999's, because of my affiliation w/ Dalbello. I liked the ski very much, just time to change.

189 Seths will be fine. I owned the 179's and loved them in the pow. I picked up some 189's this summer and plan to mount them +3 to +5 and see how it goes. The softer shovel helps the tips float nicely.

And yes, 189 is the right size for you.

I used to rick 186 BT's as well, so I'll agree that they are fun all-arounders, but no the best in pow.

p.s. I'm selling new 193 Nordica Blowers for $325 shipped if that interests you. I've spent several days on my 185's and can confirm that they rip in pow...

Thanks, for the advice everyone, at this point going with the 189 Seth Vicious. Nordica is out, no need for tip dive again.

Bandit Man, I'm also planning on mounting the Seth @ +2 or +3 I belive that will actually be 0 or +1 due to the scale on the ski being off, at least that's what I have heard.

Good, because mine are sold anyway.

999 is a great ski, very Dynastar Pro Rider. To answer the thread title, Enforcer. Doh!

Wouldn't the 08 seth be a better pow ski with the tip rocker and all that?

Tromano: Got better deal on the 07, plus not as versatile with the rocker.
Smallzookeeper: Why the enforcer, most say it sucks in powder. Have you skied it?

I ski the 185 enforcer as my everyday mammoth ski. Me 6.3/230. It rips on groomers and is great in crud but I would not call it a dedicated powder ski. The tips are soft enough that i do not get major tip dive in sierra powder. Mounted mine between the freeride/pow line. only skied the 189 pistol version a few years ago i know they changed it. I was very close to picking some up from cfreeride. If you want better powder perf the seth's should do it.

We all ski Enforcer here, absolutley no probs anywhere, a true all mountain ski. Bad in Powder, it's 98mm in the waist, if you can't ski powder with that, you suck major ass.

Thanks for the feedback, before last season my fattest board was the Volkl six star. If I buy a fatter ski I expect better float. If I want to ski through powder I'll just use the ski I already have.

I had an Enforcer mounted on the freeride line.

Mucho sidecut = severe tip dive.

I dumped 'em after one powder day.

Not recomended, except for hard snow use.

imho

Gotama: Was that the 185 or the 177 that you dumped after one day. I'm getting mixed reviews, also looking at the review on skipress, it looks like it took the cake in float, they tested the 185. Not sure what to do at this point
post #20 of 21
Yes, I had the 177. 185 is not much better from reports I've gotten.

Then again if you weight 150 iit may be different. (i'm 215)
