Once you wade through all the ads (and there's a lot of 'em...hell, Whistler took out a 37 page spread alone!) in the October issue of SKI you land upon a really well written and thoroughly enjoyable little piece called "The Hapless Camper" by Christopher Solomon.

Solomon, who is roughly 36 yo, details his week at the Camp of Champions this past summer, where he joined campers in average age of 14 yo to learn the tricks of the trade in terms of park skiing.

It's a quick read, but it really captures the love and passion of skiing on a personal level (I laughed out loud several times) and is what I love best about some ski journalism. It's this type of writing that needs to exist more than just the run-of-the-mill reviews of lodging and amenities.
