according to an email blast i just got:

"Snowmaking Update - Time to Fire up the Guns!
You may have noticed the countdown to snowmaking that was featured on our homepage has been removed. Unfortunately the weather conditions were not in our favor to start last week as we had hoped, but all the snow guns are set up and ready to start blasting. The good news is that a cold front and storm system moving into the area is going to let us fire up the guns tonight! All of us here at Loveland are excited, as I'm sure you are, so keep those fingers crossed in hopes that the temps stay cold."

I came through the tunnel this morning early. Looked like some light shades of white above the tree line. The thermometer in the car read 29.

It's less of a white ribbon of death, and more of a white ribbon of life.
So stoked!

A-Basin started last night as well. The race is on.

Yes, I too feel the stoke of the 'opening' race. Fortunately our timing is perfect as Betsy goes back to Jeff Bergeron for completion of her boot work this weekend. Now we plan to spy the white making at Loveland and A-Basin on the way to Breckenridge. How cool it that…hearing boots grinded, the competition of hills racing to open and the sight of fall mountain colors all on the same day. Life is good. It's about to get better

hmmm, i may have to find myself out that way soon...need to pick up the Colo Pass, anyway, so it's a good excuse (that and 2 leftover tickets/credits for Denver gathering dust that need to be used before Feb).

of course I gotta score me some rock skis first...

thinking closer to Halloweenish...my buddy in Denver always throws a party around then.

also i have some weddings (one in Tahoe, no less) at the beginning of Oct.

i believe i have to get out there prior to November 14th to purchase the Colo Pass, though.

Last season Loveland was my first choice for skiing, since I found a good deal on ski plus lodging combo. Unfortunately the lodging place didn't offer transportation to the ski resort (which was miles away) and I had to give up the deal.

Yeah, I was up in Frisco yesterday evening for work and noticed the beginnings of Loveland's WROD from the Interstate. I'm heading back up there about 2:30 for another evening of work today.

Damn, I need to give Jeff a call too. I'm pretty sure that Tiff's have already packed out enough to warrant some adjustment before the season starts. The sooner, the better I guess... I bet Jeff gets busy really fast this time of year.
