Just bought Atomic M11 B5's...

Noobie here...

6', 175 pounds, just scooped a new pair of 2007 Atomic M11 B5's for $398, size 170 - good deal right?

I am looking to put some Neox 4.12's (06) on.

I have no chance to demo, and I need a pair of skis for the season - so I stumbled upon this sight, read a ton of reviews, (who is this Phil character???) and made my purchase based on that.

I am coming from MUCH longer Salomon XFree 9's (from like 1999), am I going to be pleasantly suprised???

Great community here, thanks for your help (that you already provided)...

5 months till Tahoe!

Welcome! Where's the Mitten State?:. Lots of EX atomic Metron fans here. I'm sure there are many good words for you. Not familiar with the B5 but still use my lowley m9s on occasion for the right conditions. See ya on the slopes at Tahoe:

No Faux Pas, just a bit of fun.
Please don't retire!

If you imagine that you're looking at the palm side of a mitten, I live by the tip of the pinky in the mitten

Mark, do you even own a pair of mittens?

Ah, any way Drtywkndr, You'll enjoy the new skis, I'm sure. And if you get the time to demo, you'll find a ton of options out there for amazing skis to make you grin.
PM sometime if you want to hook up at Crystal to ski!

Now wait just a dang minute, How can you have a pinky or a tip of the pinky, in a mitten?: I thought mittens were finger LESSSSS. Oh, I do have a pair of fingerless gloves that I used for fishing in the winter. And my wife has ski mittens cause her hands get cold, But me... NO, I don't need no stinkin mittens. I have been to Minnesota tho.

Wow - you guys rock!

First of all... the Mitten State, are you kidding? In support of TrekChic, picture where the pinkie would be in a mitten, and that is the fantastic place she is from, great place to pick cherries.

I am from "the meat of the thumb palm" portion of the mitten - aka Detroit Rock City (suburbs).

I can't freaking wait to get out onto the trash heaps we ski on down hear, the slightly larger non-trash heaps "up north" and Ta-freaking-hoe in February!!!

TrekChic - do you MTB race?

Wait a minute... did I just hijack my own thread? Is that even possible, ah well...

Whats with all the negativity on these boards with Atomic?? I'm pretty stoked about these new sticks!!!

Bed time - have to wake up and save the domestic auto industry tomorrow.

Yea, I do ride a trek, two in fact.
I thought about buying a Giant Trance but didn't want to be known as GiantChick.
But I don't race. Too many interests.

As for the negativity with Atomic, Trends for the love of skis and mfgrs are up and down. Follow the tide and you'll see.

One of my friends still skis and loves his metron B5.

Thing is, the hooking up at Boyne is often better than the skiing..... now that's a sad state of affairs
post #22 of 24

You don't look at the PALM of the mitten, you look at the back of the hand, and then the Pinky reference makes sense regarding the Northwest Lower Peninsula.

I live right at the base of the pinky. Trek's some 50 miles south. Boyne, where I ski, is some 60 miles north and a little east.

I'm at Boyne most ski days. I'm at the Boyne Ski School meeting place at the start of most hours.
