While I can see the point that those of you who don't understand why Rick's "opinion" is an issue, it might do you well to review the actual Terms:

I actually understand Rick's concerns pretty well. He's expressed them to me personally. He's disagreed with my perspective in no uncertain terms, and decided that the way he sees it is "true." He stated it as such in his post in this thread.
That said, it's not true. The reasons he gives for actions are inaccurate at best and completely false at the extreme. Those are not the reasons for the actions to which he objects so strongly.
It is difficult indeed to judge intent. That is true on all sides of a discussion, debate, or argument. One who has decided what he or she sees can rarely be convinced otherwise.
What is true is that the people who are working on maintaining EpicSki.com are committed to the community here and keeping it from being overrun by those who would use it simply for their own business advantage. They are committed to finding ways to benefit members and (especially) Supporters. They want to keep everything as open as possible... but no more open than is possible. And that's a very difficult boundary to define, believe it or not. The folks here work really hard to walk that line. Allowing anything and everything in these forums won't work. After all, that's why people other than AC and dchan had to start moderating a few years ago, lest anyone forget.
...and no, I'm not acting as a moderator in all this. But, I am acting as a member of the management team who gets tired of seeing people accused of attitudes and intent that they just don't have. The moderators and admins around here deserve thanks and appreciation, not accusations and denigration. There's no money being earned by any of them, although God knows they've earned it.
