My favorite has to be the I-70s resorts, and if I had to pick, it would be Vail. Man, those back bowls there are the steepest, gnarliest things I have ever skied. Add in the elevation, and I can barely get down those things. I really like the huge cornices, too. I sat at the top of one for like 45 minutes before I got the balls to go off. I think I kinda chickened out by going off at an angle, but I told all the guys at the office that I was pretty rad. Add in those huge dumps that Vail gets and, Whoa! I was watching how the locals ski the powder and it definitely helps to ride the tails. That's what I tell my wife and kids to do, "lean way back". Best, steepest place I've ever skied.
I love Vail. Those of you who say it's flat don't know where to ski. I would suggest you try a run down Prima Cornice...
However my overall fave resort is Loveland...
-Local feel. No attitude. No escalators at the base.
-Free Parking and you walk right up to the lifts
-No lines even on the weekends.
-Beginner area separate from the rest of the resort.
-The Ridge - Any hike from The Ridge is awesome.
-All the terrain under Lift 1
-Cheap food (that sandwich machine is freaking awesome)
-Cheap beer (aka The Rathskeller)
-Exactly one hour from my front door to Lift 1.
-On a powder day Loveland rivals any resort.
-Great Ski instruction program for my kids.

Hey, I'm a Yankee fan and borderline Eurotrash, but even I know Vail blows.
I'll second Mary Jane... next time I'm there though I'm looking for Attacking Mid's lunch
