FS: '07 Volkl Gotama with Fritschi Freeride + and Skins

Hey everyone,

I've got a pair of 176 Volkl Gotama's from last year mounted with Fritschi Freeride + and a pair of Black Diamond Ascension STS skins.

The Volkl Gotama has been in Freeskier's Editor's Quiver for who knows how many years now, and they stinkin' rock! I got these last season and put maybe 15 days on them. They are great and I'm getting a new pair, just want to get the next size longer. The bases are in great shape, a scratch here and there, but no core shots or anything. I filled in the only two that were deep enough with black p-tex because it looks sweet on the red base Topsheets are about the same, scratch here and there, nothing major. I do have my name on them, but I'm trying to get that off. Here's the Volkl Website page for them from last year:

The Fritschi Freeride + bindings are great, nothing more than a cosmetic scratch here and there. I would keep them, but figured it'd be easier to sell the whole package at once. They go to a DIN of 12 and are totally bomber. Here's the link to them on the Black Diamond website: http://www.bdel.com/gear/freeride.php

The skins are brand new BD Ascension STS skins, 120mm wide and trimmed to fit ... i never actually got a chance to use them, but they fit the skis so they're going with them. They have the cheat sheets and the storage bag with them. Here is the link to them on the Black Diamond website: http://www.bdel.com/gear/sts.php

Here are the pics, if you want to see some more, I can send you them

I'm thinking $800 for the whole setup, but I'm willing to negotiate on that. Retail for the setup is right about $1400.

As always, I will have them fully tuned before I ship them.

Let me know if you're interested or want more pics, and thanks for looking!

You should post those over at TGR, though you're more likely to get around 700.

The maggots will harass you if you haven't posted there before, but they're harmless

BTW...if anyone is interested, that is a sweet set up. I have 183s w/ the regular freerides and like it very much. The plus are supposed to be a bit stiffer.

He did post over there. It didn't go so well.

that's funny, I hadn't looked at the TGR till you wrote that, i forgot what those guys were like over there ... maybe they should ski more instead of talking about how great they are, I'm sure they'd be a little more laid back ...

Yes it's a different crowd over there, but a great community if you stick around and cut through the crap.

Most of the people over there could out-ski most of the skiers on the planet, and they aren't afraid to prove it....I'd be carefull questioning/downplaying skiing abilities over there. I'd almost be willing to bet money that TGR has the greatest concentration of both pro skiers and expert skiers than any other forum.

I've personally learned a lot about BC, touring, ski mountaineering, off-piste and freesking since I've been a maggot...It's made me a much better skier. There's also a larger contigent of maggots in my area than bears...Actually, a very laid back crowd who are generally eager to put up with mere mortals, such as me, and willing to take you to another level.

Anyways, good luck with the sale and sorry for jacking your thread.

It's possible that they are as good as they say they are, it's just been my experience that every pro (4 or 5) and true expert (not a tourist who calls themselves an expert) that I know would be the last person to tell you how good they are ... on TGR just about everyone is happy to imply that they are the best skier around. but who knows, maybe they are

While I agree that the maggots can be brutal, I also agree that most of them (not all) are good people once they step away from their keyboards. Gear swap is actually a good example of it. It's a place to hook people up and get it back in return. People are giving and getting sick deals all the time. A new poster coming in and asking an ebay price for a setup or looking for a deal is going to take a beating, no question. Is $800 a fair price for the setup? Sure. But not there. If you want to be a part of their community, lower the price and hook somebody up, if you could care less about it, laugh it off and sell it elsewhere but by no means, take it personally. Good luck...I ski 183 goats and love 'em...maybe I ought to pick up the 176's for the wife!

Or maybe you should just ask for a reasonable price when you try to sell your stuff. Comparing it to retail isn't very realistic.

Hey dude,

I'm sure you can find someone who is willing to pay that much on ebay. It's a killer AT setup. Saw the thread on TGR, what is with those guys.. I tried to PM for a deal and he abused me ? A bit of humility goes a long way.

Yeah, there are some obnoxious retards over there (such as me...), but its mostly good folk. Really just one guy was being a douche and he got more than he gave.

As for the skill level of the maggots....some are obviously puffing. Others are as good as they say....a few are a whole lot better than they say....and then, of course, there's highwaystar.

Awww man, where were you with this setup before labor day?

I just bought 183 Gotamas and Freerides. I was on the fence between 176 and 183 though, so you totally could have had me.

Since I'm not buying, I'll give a bump and a recommendation!

Good luck,

e.
