Phil, Help me out - should I return them? I've been killing myself on those crappy K2 2500s for the last 3 years. What do you think of this deal?

Janesdad, you might want to hear from SierraJim instead. Does this link describe your interest?

Thanks, yes I had read that beforehand. I meant to buy them from SierraJim, but my wife surprised me last night.

I feel like these will be a great pair of skis for me as a 'next step' up. Last season I really felt like I was being held back by my skis and didn't want to bite off more than I could chew by jumping up to a stiffer or more demanding ski.

The M7 got rave reviews last year, it is for a L5-7 skier though. Unless you are a passive intermediate with no desire to improve, you might want more ski.

You're killing me. What about all this blathering about not buying 'too much' ski? It seems like once you 'get it' at some level or another; just buy the most ski you can afford if you are at all athletic. It makes me want to say that there is no need for anything in the middle.

Well yes, there is room at the middle. It's just that the bottom starts at 7. 9 and 10 is the new middle. Our Amps now go up to 12 at the top, and even still it's only the top of the middle. The real top is the race-stock, and unabashed big-mountian free-ride ripper skis.

As I see it, Middle is level 7-8, Bottom is level 5-6. Below that it's rent for two or three days. RX8 is a middle ski. AMC 76, 73, 79 are middle skis. Head Monster 72, 77, 88s are middle skis. Elan Speedwave 12, Nordica speed Machine 14, 14.2, 12.2 are middle skis. Nordica Mach3 is a middle ski.

As I see it if you are a level 7 skier wanting to improve you should be looking at a mid-level ski. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I own a M9, have skied it for 2 yrs until this past spring. I was planning on selling this fall but due to declining value in used Metrons IMHO, I have decided to keep it for a "rock" ski and for really hard snow days? If it were my only ski and all I wanted to ski was groomed, I would have no complaints. Besides its good exercise to carry them and do leg lifts on the chair.: Haven't skied any other Metron. If you have a choice tho I would go with the 9 over the 7 if for no other reason than there's no reason not too. I was quite inexperienced when I got the 9's and they were nice right off.

I bet it will ski pretty well in most conditions except scratchy hardpack. I think when conditions are "bullet proof" thats when a beefier ski will destinguish itself from a lesser ski. If you're skiing at moderate speed you should be fine. What length dis you buy?

Let's cut to the chase...you have drank from the cup.

You'll love these and be back. :

Resistance is futile.
