Killer deal on this 2 y/o gently used jacket. Very warm with a very cool gel pack system that traps heat and releases when cools down; Actually works! Lots of pockets and built in neck gaitor. Waterproof and windproof, stretch fabric. Retail on these new are over $800.00.

Is this a shell or is there insulation? What's the exterior "waterproof" fabric? I never believe in waterproof fabric that stretches....

It's a lined insulated jacket. The last picture shows the gel pack inserts that trap body heat. Actually, there are several strecth and softshell fabrics that are waterproof, the OR Mithril jacket I am selling is completely waterproof, I have worn it (a different one) in downpours for over an hour with no leakage. THe Kjus fabrics are incredible. Thats one reason why they are so expensive. If you have shop around that carries it, go check it out. I know of no other company that produces anything like, including Arc'. (which I love)

Finndog,
May be interested. What is the width at armpits? I am 6' & 200 lbs and sometimes need a L & sometimes and xl. Does it run small or big?
Thx

And the width at the hips? Maybe I can look at the specs on line if you have the model name. I've never even heard of this brand until this forum, let alone seen it in a store.

Med, i am 6' 175-78. I will measure for you, it's not a loose fitting jacket but then again it's not tight. I wil get you some measurements. You don't need to wear a lot under it. do you have broad shoulders / wide lats?

Sibhusky, you know this is a mens jacket? I forgot the model name but i can get it. that would be helpful to search on it anyway. I will also measure at the hips for you.

Yeah, I know it's mens. But it's a nice jacket and functional is what I am after. But that is why I'm asking about hip sizes is that is where I run into issues.

Ok, I beleive it's a discovery or Explorer jacket but it doesn't have a RECO built in but it does has the Phase gel packs, Called PCM. The H2O proofing is Dermazaz EV.

yes, actually!

How in the heck do you keep a white jacket so clean. The pics make it look new!

Its actually very easy to keep clean. the fabric is very tight and nothing sticks to it. Any dirt; even lift grease cleans off easily.

Well, you know, "winter white" is allowed after Labor Day and any white jacket you wear skiing will eventually become "winter white".

Ahh, such wisdom! Kjus was one of the first to make white mens jackets and then so many jumped on the bandwagon last season.

Did you get your Fission yet? SWEEET!

Not yet. I opted for the FREE shipping, which is 7 to 10 days.

Enjiy the Fission. I got one (two tone orange) early last season in Fort Liquordale (!) of all places, and it is the most outstanding jacket I've ever had, and I'm a jacket junkie. Super light, super warm, windproof, waterproof - just a fantastic piece. Enjoy.

I was at the Arcteryx factory store in Vancouver on Wednesday this week, and nothing was a killer deal, and I really don't need another Fission. My wife did get a super deal on some pants however.

In spite of the free shipping, the jacket arrived two days later, so got it last night. Missing features: pit zips, sleeve pocket for hanky, lift ticket attachment loop, removable hood, zipper that works from the bottom as well as from the top. (I was conscious that the hood was permanent when I bought it.) So, the jury will have to wait on whether I agree about this jacket. (I do have a Descente with all those features and more, but the thing is a sponge. Only for those days you absolutely know that rime, wet snow, rain, etc. won't be an issue.) Does anyone know how the rain proof zipper holds up over time?
