As for other films, I have most of Stumpy's stuff and a few TGR flicks. They're all more about the athletes and aren't as blatant with product placement but they all support specific sponsors from year to year so there will obviously be some product placement; none of which really bothers me at all. Without it, none of the film-makers would be able to survive. The thing that makes most of the films I have fun for me is that I've skied with a bunch of the people in them. Prior to the last few years, I haven't had a lot of reason to watch the ski movies. Now I get them because I can relate with some of the people in them and that's gotten me interested again.
As for being boring, I think that's normal as the attention span for ski movies only lasts a few years before the formula gets a little old; "seen one, seen 'em all." But for a new generation of skiers each year, they're all new and the thrill is there for them just like it was for me when I was younger. I still like going to the TGR opening at the beginning of the season since there's usually a trade show or something else going on too and it's a great way to get together and party with my ski buddies and get focused on the upcoming season.
