Yeah, MTBing is more like touring/BC/XC than alpine skiing. In so far as both Skate skiing and road riding are on smooth, maintained surfaces and typically are about keeping a continuos rhythm there are similarities. The downhill on a road bike can be a bit like skiing groomers.
Since QuiverChick....err...TrekChick is looking to expand her biking fleet, you'll also need to get a hybrid bicycle
to fit in between the road and mountain bikes. If you have lots of gravel roads, this is a good option to consider.
