Junior Racing ski advice

Thread Starter
My grandson who is 12 has been racing for several years. He is a good skier but still learning and not that serious about racing, more about skiing better. This will be his last year in junior equipment. He is about 5" and only weighs 85 lbs...wiry and pretty strong.

The question is: is there a decent junior combi ski made?

If not, is it best to buy a junior GS ski and use that for both events or buy a longer slalom ski. I know that either way it is a compromise. His best event is gs and not slalom.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is possible that we would buy a new pair of either sl or gs and try to pick up a second used pair of the other but we are trying not to spend too much.

What about buying a pair of GS and then looing for a pair of NOS SL skis? I can see what I have laying around form last year or the year before and try and get you a good deal if you would like.

Bootdude, let me know. Do you work in a shop in the area? Vertical Drop maybe?

I have been associated with another shop for decades but have not worked in the past few years due to a serious illness. Still can get equipment. If my grandson were a little bigger we would invest in adult equipment knowing he could use it for more than a season but he is surely going to grow like crazy in the next year.

Thanks.

I am at Snowcrest in Crestwood. I know we have a few pair of older jr. race skis laying around but I am not sure what sizes I have. Let me look around and I'll get back to you.
