NSR, but I don't get why some people persist in trying to carry on a conversation with someone who is typing on a keyboard. For fifteen minutes. That's like trying to talk to someone when they're on the phone.

Does the pot calling the kettle black mean anything to you? :

I don't get....

...enough time to ski:
Well I am going to say it.

I don't get parents who take thier 3 or 4 year old up onto the mountain and guide them down groomed dark blue and Black runs on a 20' leash.

That is just SOOO dangerous.

You owe me a keyboard cleaning!

Yeah, what's up with that : ...they should be using a climbing rope and a belay anchor. :

(Also works well for clothes-lining careless skiers.)

Hmm, 'cause they go fast, jump tall fences, leap down steep drops, carry you up a mountain & back down again in good time? Slide down granite boulders & stick their landings well ? Can manage expertly & athletically even when it's just a deer track. Provide limitless opportunities for an adrenaline rush (or is that fix ?). Happy for a quiet stroll in the woods on a moments notice. Never have to check their schedules to go with you to see new places, try new things. Carry you through safely inspite of your own fear ? Make new friends with anyone & have minimal ego impairments ? Content to stay indoors when the ground is frozen & I'm on the hill in snow ?

umm, cause they make work for others & still cost alot when standing around doing nothing ? vs sitting in closet costing nothing unless there is some where to go.

Why horses cost as much as kids, but don't last as long.
Why I still have them, ( the horses ) I'll keep the kid !

...Crap in the trail, major erosion of said trails, huge holes in the trails that block the natural flow of water.

How would you like to carry 150+lbs. on your back while doing all that?
It's disgusting!

I totally get that. after everything you just listed, you compared it to sliding down snow with wood attached to your feet. Can you imagine shuttling 3 kids and a wife to the hill for the weekend to do that?

Skiing, in the mind of ski-bums is priceless... and it should be, because it is priceless to ski everyday.

However... pulling off a ski trip for a weekend involving 3 kids and a wife is fricking amazing. And, I dream of that potential in my work-week. That world is out of my league, jer.

I've never bought more than a couple years straight either. But I hope to god I can have one this winter. There's a lot to be said about just running laps at your favorite hill.

Straightlining I completely understand... and powder frenzies too. I also completely understand skis more than 90mm at the waist. Don't you?

I don't get it when people get possessive about skiing. It belongs to everyone.

I almost didn't post this but I couldn't resist.............

I don't get
.........why my neighbors horses keep getting out. Spend the day in my yard frequently.
.........Why my neighbor can't afford to fix his fence since he can afford to feed 6 horses.
.........Why my neighbor left this behind when the horses were at my house yesterday. I mean really I don't mind the yard so much. That will mulch into the lawn, but on my concrete driveway?
Oh well, looks like free tomato fertilizer to me now.

Since this is a Ski forum, I'd like to say that I've gotten a good crop of tomatoes to can so I can make chili to take when we tailgate at the ski resort this winter!
That's a little personal victory I can take away from the "fertilizer" that was left in my driveway.

Lodge Mom's. Women who give up something they love like skiing only to sit on the lodge while everyone else is out enjoying themselves.

My mom was a lodge-mom. She quite enjoyed it.

Trekchick,

I don't get that about your neighbors either. Horses getting out on the roadway or highway would be one of my worst nightmares. The damage they or a cow do to a vehicle & occupants is unbelievable. On the lighter side, In England when the horses pass thru town for morning excersize, mom's send their kids out to get any droppings for the garden. Organic & keeps the roadwy cleaner. Did I hear that Squaw has sleigh rides during ski season ?
