Best/Worst Ski Manufacturer Website: 2007-08

OK, so far, which company has the coolest website currently accessible? Which is the worst?

I recommend going beyond which company you like the best/hate the most.

Consider questions of ease-of-use, structure, originality/creativity, thoroughness, placement of details, even humor.

It would be helpful if you could provide a link!

Jury is out, not all manufacturers have put up their 07-08 sites.

I would lay money on Volant having the most superficial and stupid site.

I actually don't mind it. It's simple. It's hard to get the facts, tho. http://www.volantski.com/english/index.htm

The worst I've ever seen was K2 a couple years ago -- the lunkhead "frathouse" theme. Frickin' stupid.

That is the 06-07 site, could be the 07-08 site for all it matters...the skis are from 02-03. :

Head skis may make very fast race skis but they got one very slooooow website. It took forever to view their ski pages on my extremely fast road runner cable connection.

Head's website sucks -- it's always sucked as far as I can remember. This year they have a new twist on their "product advisor" gimmick -- it's just real complicated and patronizing for all but the most boneheaded.

So far, the very best site I've seen for 07/08 is Nordica. First impressions: clean, informative, complete, easy to navigate: http://www.nordica.com/home.php

I hate all those ski sites with the magnifying glasses you drag over the ski to see the ski in detail. Just fricking offer a clickable image which gives you a bigger image for close-ups.

The worst? That would be a tie between all manufacturers that don't have their '07-'08 models up yet. It's August, the new equipment has probably existed since March. What are they waiting for, snow?

Agreed! Videos and moving images and fancy, busy graphics suck on ski sites.

Here's one of the most egregious examples of style totally trumping substance: http://www.rossignol.com/

Yes, Rossignol Skis -- erm, excuse me, I meant Rossignol "Pure Mountain Company" (what the f**k does that mean, people? .

If you can wade through all the arty-farty bells and whistles you JUST might eventually find something as outrageously outre as a ... ski.

A fricking ski. That's all I want. Show me the ski, please.

So you gotta wonder -- if this is how they design a website, how do they deal with their main reason for existence? :

yeah, this question needs to be re-asked in October...when most sites will have their "new" versions up.

i've checked a ton of sites and most of them are still running their 2006/2007 sites.

Is there a single ski manufacturer's web site that isn't overloaded with worthless Flash bling? If there is, that'd be the one that gets my vote.

But I haven't found one yet.
