Nordica 2007/2008 Race Offerings - Changes?

I know we have a few Nordica reps lurking around here that might know the answer to this question... as well as a few people who may have already been on the stuff at Hood over the summer.

What changes are Nordica's race stock skis going through this year? Basically I want to know if there are changes from 2006/2007 (other than the slight re-tooling of the GS ski radius) or if they will be the same as the 2006/2007 skis, with the addition of significantly uglier graphics...

Ideally I'd like to purchase the 2007/2008 skis, but if they are no different I am thinking of saving some money and grabbing last years skis on clearance somewhere. I'd be looking at the 165cm SLR and the 186cm GSR.

There are no differences to the skis for this year, other than the fact that no two pieces of wood are the same, but then the guys at the factory are pretty good at matching up equal pairs. I know of a shop around here that has both, should you need a bit more information.

Thanks for the quick response (and for providing the answer that I was hoping for)! I should be able to save a considerable amount of money this fall. Technically I don't "need" to replace my 05/06 GSR's... but I "want" to replace them, so I'll probably upgrade both. Out of my two pairs of 05/06 SLR's, one pair is mostly destroyed, so I'll need to add a new pair of those for carving/racing, and keep the oolder pair for free skiing.

What was the most common plate setup to find on the 06/07 skis? I saw them predominantly with Marker pistons (what I use on my skis), but did see a few at races that had the X-Balance/VIST plate on them.

Me too... but around here a lot of them were flat from the factory last season (at least I assume they were) because people wanted to use the WC Piston plate instead of the XB plate. The XB plate was not nearly as popular as the Piston race plate for some reason. : If they have the XB plate on them I will be using it for sure - I just wasn't certain what I should expect.

Thanks,

I can' see the benifit of Piston on this ski.
For my money is skied better than the Dynastar and the Atomic, it seemed everyone wanted the Rossi. This kinda stuff is so subjective. Any given day i'd ski better on one or the other. I just spent a fair amount of time watching the guys pair up skis with their hearing at Nordica, something i'm sure they all do, but there is something sweet about watching an Italian mater his craft.

They really do build a great product. IMO the skis are some of the best in a business and highly under rated for the performance that they deliver - especially the GSR, which to date outskis every GS ski that I have been on. How is it that you have been able to spend time in the race room while they are building the skis? It would be a great experience to see that in action.

I had some study time to work on the Gran Sport and Aggressor Boots, the R+D is in the same Factory as where the skis are built (Sandwich-Woodcore models.) It was awesome, they are so skilled. I'd like to get in there on a permanent basis, i loved testing the boots to destruction. But the ski guys are something else. The Piston models were from the lower flex test patterns, i just checked with the boys there and were aimed at lighter and Junior skiers.

I'm sticking with the 07 GSR again for this season. They are sick nasty. Anybody got a pair of Marker 20.0's for sale?
In Japan they are sold with he XB plates (subcontracted by VIST) ON the ski, both GSR and SLR. There are no significant changes to either ski other than the radii on the GSR to meet new FIS rules.

They are way too "hot" for club or master's racer here locally and remain unsold at my local ski shop. So the local rumor mill propagates.
