Is It Possible?

Is it possible that we had 2,692 people on-line in June as noted in the stats? And that here are 800 users on right now on a Monday evening in the middle of the summer?

You guys are going to break the software! At one time I actually worried about that, back when we had over a hundred and fifty on at one time and the site was stuck together with duct tape .

Anyway, good to see you guys rocking it out.

And I also noticed that there are 10 times as many non-registered guests on-line as registered members. What are you non-registered guests waiting for? Register and join the club. All the cool kids are doing it. Tell the doorman I sent you -- not that you know me form anyone else, but the doorman might.

Hi AC!!! It's great to have you back, Papa EpicSki.

How else can you get through the misery of summer?
AC, all of that is possible, and I'm thinking of buying skis in August!!
Okay I thought of it in June and July too!

I actually told nurses today that I couldn't WAIT to ski again this winter. They gave me the most quizzical looks!

The addict never stops thinking of the fix.

I bought some that arrived last week, and they are hanging out in the living room (the "good" room that always stays clean). I refuse to move them. The dog fence guy came in today and saw them, and started jonesing himself. Then he told me about his first skis, decades ago, wooden with the leather straps ...

I thought the higher numbers reflected going from a 1/2 hour idle time before timing out, to four hours before timing out, or something like that.

This was the case for a short period of time, when the system was "timing out" people who were posting some............well thought out posts:

It's a sickness, I miss it too.

Even for a 4 hour period those are pretty big numbers.

Didn't we back it down to 90 minutes some time ago?

Oh, don't worry, we stopped counting you months ago.

Good to hear from you AC.

AC, what are the odds we can see your shining and elusive face in Tahoe or one of the events this year? This is all about the skiing you know.

Oh yeah, new emoticons ...

and hot linked streaming Video.

Of course when its all said and done, this place is really about the skiers who post here....even in summer.

AC! As I live and breath! Hello, old friend!

Look at what you've done. Your brainchild has even graduated from college and is working on a Ph.D.

Where are you? What are you up to these days? Inquiring Bears want to know!

Good to see so many familiar faces!

Cirquerider, I would love to hit an EpicSki event this year. But in the past I kept saying I was going to and then was so totally swamped at the time and had to bail out, and I felt terrible doing so. So I'm not going to overstate the possibility up front, but I would really, really like to make it happen.

Oboe, I'm in the land of no snow at all -- Los Angeles. And as awful as that sounds, it's really fun here.

AC - what beautiful pictures, I love them. I'd buy whatever you are selling. I can see why you are based in LA, the mecca of fashion and beauty.

My partners passion is photography, but making money out of it is not easy. Everyone wants his pictures for nothing, so he is still cutting computer code. Congrats on making a career of it.

And yes we are still here.....

AC

WOW. Those are some nice pictures. How much of that is from photography and lighting, and how much is photo editing? Either way, that takes some talent.
Absolutely love the tones and shadows.

Wow AC, that work is impressive. A girl I raced with in college who just finishing up her masters would love this stuff (she is a photography person trying to get into fashion after spending the better part of a year in Italy). After spending a lot of time with her she has forced me to have an eye for it... I really like this work... very nice.
It looks like things are going well for you - congrats!

Thanks.

It's casting. It's lighting with lots of strobes at unusually extreme side angles. It's a great team of hair stylists, makeup artists, wardrobe stylists, set designers, etc... It's clients that trust you (if you're lucky). It's exposing to capture the maximum amount of data and the widest dynamic range (i.e., a flat looking image straight out of the camera) so that you have the most information to push and pull on in post. Sometimes it's compositing. Then it's hand painting with a tablet to give it a somewhat illustrated feel.

But overall, it's a lot more logistics and planning than shooting. And it's a lot more marketing than logistics and planning. Back to work

Beautiful August! Lighting is spectacular as are the colors, composition and everything else!
AC, those photos are astonishing. I've never seen anything like it. The sets and styling are really amazing.

Dude! Snowmass is calling in January!

Nice to hear from you.
The lighting! The LIGHTING! What more can we say? Beautiful work.

I really liked your studio in SF, AC. I'd love to see your new place... And I still love your work...

Those are absolutely mindbending images.

Seriously, though - somebody ought to toss those girls a sandwich. :

Hey AC--Great to hear from you!

And I agree with the others--those are incredibly great images you've created! I look forward to seeing more. Most excellent.

Yeah, I guess I can see the appeal of L.A. But I hear that they have an airport there, with planes flying to almost anywhere. . . .

Best regards,
Bob Barnes
