'Hundreds' cancel trips to Telluride - Page 3

How do they feel about the president? They can't even vote.

13 towns in Vermont last March voted in resolutions to impeach Bush.
I bet Killington wasn't one of the towns

Your right and I got the number wrong it was alot more towns. Here is the list.
3/6/07 - 35 towns pass impeachment resolutions against Bush and Cheney. They include Bristol, Middlebury, Richmond, Newfane, Guilford, Vershire, Rochester, Westminster, Hartland, Newbury, Dummerston, Johnson, Calais, Grafton, Jericho, East Montpelier, Woodbury, Roxbury, Plainfield, Peru, Jamaica, Wilmington, Craftsbury, Greensboro, Marlboro, Townshend, Morristown, Montgomery, Putney, Tunbridge, Springfield, Sunderland, St. Johnsbury(town meeting survey 71-27), Stannard, Burke.

The Vermont state legislature introduced a bill to support impeachment. It was passed by the state Senate but never made it out of the House committee. Not aware of any reprocusions like for Teluride, a few towns on the list do rely on the ski resorts for some of their economy.

Most of the states near Vt are blue. New Hampshire, they either ski NH or are dedicated to Vt. Out of 100, less than one would protest a ski area based on what a town votes.

That's quite a list.

Time to move the thread, TC.

Did those hippies ever levitate the Pentagon??

As long as your head is the "15% conservative" part, you're doing ok. I moved because I couldn't stand Rocky.

What does everybody here think about GLOBAL WARMING!!!?
Global Warming??

I'm all for maintaining the status quo until the Southeast and Texas are removed from the face of the earth via hurricane. Then maybe we can start treating the environment a little better.

...but hell, I'm also all for Vermont becoming the 'Florida of Canada', so I should probably just be ignored.

Not even going there, Jer. Just nodding to David's favorite topic (according to others, anyway - I don't read the global warming threads on TGR much).

Telluride?

Eek God I wish it would start to snow, so we could discuss something important like snow depth and quality. 13 Towns in Vt. voted to impeach Bush - now there's some really important new. Right up there with what brand of gum the local teenager spat out yesterday.

BRING ON WINTER PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get some perspective. What a great time to ski Telluride...Fewer tourists. Like a decade ago when Americans were scared to fly to Europe...

Maybe that's because you live in Idaho where there are really big things happening. Vermont is where I ski, and with all the crap at Killington right now, how Vermont is reacting to things in general is interesting to me. But for the most part, nobody really cares what the towns of Vermont do. And nobody of significance will care what Telluride does either. A few will stay away, but life will go on, and they will not be missed. Others will take their place and not for political reasons.

Never been to Telluride and there is not much talk on Epic about the place. But I'd like to check it out - go see where this grassroots movement is taking place. Vermont is full of it and it's exciting to watch, and that's not to say that I agree with it all. But in Vermont the town meeting is still alive and well. People come together to talk about community issues and things that affect their lives. Issues no longer stop at the town lines. That's not how we do it here so it's interesting.

To paraphrase my new hero, Ms. Lauren Caitlin Upton, Ms. Teen South Carolina, if more people would send maps to Iraq and South Africa, then the future of Telluride would not be such a problem for the children of our future to locate . . . or something like that.

Did I hear JER say that Neil Young is moving to Telluride?

Or was it Steve Young?

I'm confused.....Hep me Rhonda!!

Personally, I'll make a point of trying to get to Telluride this season because of this. Heck, maybe we should move the Gathering. Who's up for it?!

Great idea spindrift! I'll bring along some tunes by C,S,N and Y and your favorite Alleman Brothers (eat a peach); give us a little local demeanor!

"Maybe it's the time of year, or maybe it's the time of man.
And I don't know who I am, but life its for learning.
We are stardust, we are golden, we are billion year old carbon,
and we've got to get ourselves back to the garden."

You bring the CSNY and Greg and Duane and I'll bring Joni, Jimi, and Janis.

Someone else bring the boobs.

Sorry, David. I did flash the light in the sky, though.

Been out of town ... around Lake Tahoe, actually. It was really warm there and no snow at all! If that's not global warming, I don't know what is.
