what motivates you? - Page 2

I dunno. Just something I do; always have. A little like the instinctive drive to eat and screw. Living close to the mountains helps. The ability to have something to look forward to in the winter months when everyone else is suffering from SAD (seasonally altered depression) is kinda nice. I'm certainly not fanatical enough to get on a plane and spend big hotel money for something as simple as a sport. If I lived some warm flat place with no ocean, I'd do something else like uh... uh... just what DO you do with yourself if you live in a warm flat place with no ocean??? :

For me, it's standing at the top of a steep run and thinking, can I do that? with a catch in my throat. And then, taking that first plunge, successfully making that first turn, getting into the rhythm of the turns, gives me a thrill like no other. Then, when I'm finished, looking back and thinking, Yes! I freaking did that! So: 1) Overcoming innate fear 2) Thrill 3) Feeling of accomplishment. :
