SAC and a private sale already took my ski dollars this summer, however those deals could not be beat!

Great deals. My wife snagged a pair of Rossi B3W's for all the snow Taos is going to have this winter.

I went and picked up the Nordica Top Fuel Nitrous today and was surprised that some nice inventory remains. Rossi B3, Nordica Modified and Eliminator and others are all available in a variety of sizes.

Summer in a ski store is truely weird. clothing and equipment is all 50% off, almost no one is in the store and the heat in the parking lot is a strong reminder its off-season. Today was around 102 degrees on the asphalt at the shop according to the car temperature sensor. Come ski season it should be a very different story. I'm not even motivated to mount up the bindings. Go figure.

Got my Fury's today. Ordered Sat & delivered today. Not bad, thanks SJ for the great deal & free shipping to boot!

On a side note, the Salomon Smartrak binding system was sure easy to mount up. I only needed a screw driver to attach the brakes. No drilling, just side everything into place & lock down. You could easily do on the hill adjustments, no tools needed!

Very similar to the Tyrolia Railflex but an even more refined design.

Looks like I grabbed the last pair of 10.5 Lange 120 FRs. If they fit, they're a steal at $299. If not, they'll just have to go back.

PSA:
In case u missed it the 1st time. Looks like they've got some more stock on different sizes for the B2 & B3's (and maybe some of others).

Came across this yesterday by accident. Glad I didn't miss out! B3's for $199 and free shipping. : Very nice! Thanks!

SJ, do you do this every year? If so, do you always start at end of June?

I don't want to speak for SJ, but he posted that he is away for a bit. I believe that he has some great deals every year, but this year is exceptional for the inventory of this sale because of the sad snow year they had out there.
I may be wrong, but I believe that has a lot to do with this particular awesome sale.

Sales are a weird thing. In January 2006, a store around here called Copelands had a half-off marked prices sale. We paid $275 for a pair brand new Phat Luvs in January, before we had the storms of March. You never know.

I've just returned from a week long backpack trip so I'll catch up with a couple of clarifications.

1) No we don't always do this. This was intended to clear out some models that were down to a pr. or two per size in order to free up wall space for incoming '08 gear.

2) A/D mentioned very correctly that you cannot predict sales. This was a weak snow year in the West and so sales were slower than expected. A bargain type sale can happen mid season as when Copelands went out of business, but that is very much not the norm.

Buying in the volume that I do involves much speculation, and while this year, I had a little too much (unreal deals) the year before, I had too little. (deals were still good, just not this good)

Welcome back, Jim.

FYI, I am currently sitting in my office wearing your last pair of 10.5 Lange Comp 120 FR MFs -- I figured, at $299, I could see what I thought about them in the comfort of home. My initial reaction is very positive (which leads me to believe that my Tecnicas were way too loose).

Got my Snoop Daddys today. Lets see..... how many days 'til Thanksgiving when Bristol schedules their opening ??? Not that they would be good on freshly groomed manmade iceballs.........

You might be surprised. Those skis have great hold in firm and variable conditions.

Yeah, I think so. It's a bit weird, though. I have a wide forefoot and relatively narrow heel and ankle, and relatively flat feet (they were totally flat before I was orthoticized as a kid). But although the toe-most buckle goes almost to the tightest setting without pain, if I try to buckle the next one up (i.e., towards the ankle) even to the second slot, it gets extremely tight. I tried it with and without my custom insoles to see whether that made a difference, but I don't think it did.

Of course, I was wearing cotton dress socks today, so I'm guessing the scenario will be slightly different with proper ski socks on.

Just wanted to add that I just got a pair of Queen Attivas for the girlfriend and wanted to thank Jim for good advice, fast shipping, and a great price.
