Looks like Cirque didn't get too far from the refreshments

Were those burgers "hart smart"? Gotta watch that, at Cirque's age

Great pictures Max.

It's well worth it to take a look at the whole set: http://picasaweb.google.com/cassiope...hoeGathering08

Michael

P.S., I was at Mt Rose today but could not find the group.

D'oh! It sounded yesterday like there wouldn't be anyone else at Rose today, and so I didn't check the forum again this morning. Sorry, MTT - I was in that east basin all morning, so we probably skied right by each other.Had a good day at Rose... until what was going to be my last run (why is it always the last run?). Turns out the lower part of the trail I was on had gotten a LOT icier since the morning, and I skidded out and went for a loooooong headfirst slide down the last third of it. Fortunately there wasn't anyone below me, and once it got less steep I was able to flip around and use my skis to arrest my slide. Lost my poles halfway - it was too far to climb back up, and when I went back down the trail to look for them I couldn't find them! No sign of them at the chairlift or the lost & found, so either they went skidding off into the woods or someone swiped them. I left them my name and phone number, so maybe they'll turn up. They weren't anything special, but I JUST bought them!Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone who I got to meet and ski with, and special thanks to Jake for the great food/drink and mini Epic base camp on Saturday, and to Tom for the free VIP Kirkwood pass (score!). If any of you make your way to New England, give me a call or PM if you want to meet up.Keep your eyes peeled for a slightly longer trip report, and lots of pictures (as long as the camera makes it through baggage in more or less one piece.)

I am really pleased that I got to spend some time with the epic gang on Thursday and Friday and I am sorry we missed the bbq and chips on Saturday, as well as the chance to nab those handsome poles on Sunday, hey they match my skis!

I'll post my pics or some of them as soon as I can sign up for an account and get some url addys working. Max, fine photo's dude!

Thursday was cool, memorable moments were 911over getting up close and personal with Matthias. And our video analysis in the luxor unit at Heave.

Friday was neat with Matthias followed me around the 'wood, he did a stunning job at skiing the "wall"! It was fun meeting everyone and making some turns together. Tyrone shredding it was sick!

My Saturday and Sunday were all about soccer and kids, which is for another forum so don't ask.

I actually shambled into the Gathering on Saturday with my pops.

He went straight for the backside and I actually ditched the Epic crew after meeting up with them to do three laps off Sentinal with some Maggots.

Spent the rest of the day riding with Adam, Matt, Miles, Tom (until lunch), and Max. The latter (Mr. Vienna) actually got me on a pair of his skis, took away my poles and introduced me to the joy of carving deep trenches with minimal force.

BTW, Max, which skis did I ride again. I know they were 180 long, had the Paul Smith topsheets, and were about 76-78 under foot. Sweet planks.

I must give extra thanks to Jake who threw down a sweet Q. Sorry I didn't make it back to demo the Boss.

Sunday I woulda made it to Rose, but pops had free tix to Sierra. It was a good day on the Screaming Monkeys, though.

Thanks for all the pics Max!

On day 2 by afternoon, I was helping by consuming the refreshments. I hate to see a guy go home with a full cooler of beer.

My thoughts exactly and glad everyone had a good time:

Good to meet up some of you guys last Friday at Kirkwood. I had a good time and it was cool watching Eski and Holiday due their thang. Great skiers and even better people.

Apologies to those of you that followed me on that little, um, 'adventure' when we had to downclimb around the ice into that chute....but I guess it added a little spice to the day.

Sorry I didn't show on Saturday. Friday I skied pretty conservatively as I'm still healing up from a big crash a few weeks prior, and I decided to take both Saturday and Sunday off again from skiing.

Photos!

It took a little while, but I finally edited my photos and put up a whole bunch of them as a set on Flickr:

Here are a few highlights (I hope):

Max got the action shots of the clinic group, but I snapped a few of the less extreme group on Saturday.

Bigger versions available at Flickr. I also have ginormous high-res originals for them all (much bigger/higher quality than the "Large" Flickr version); just send a PM if you want a full-size copy of something and I can email it to you.

There are actually a few more (mostly landscape stuff I shot on the road) -- I hit the monthly upload limit! Guess I need a paid account there if I plan on doing this frequently. :
