Off to Vail today and they were reporting 4" which was just about right on the lower mountain as I snuck in 2 runs off the Riva Bahn prior to the meet up time.
After the meet up we headed straight to the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin and were VERY pleasantly surprised to be joined by Vince of Fate Clothing and his friend Dave
they both RIP BTW) http://www.fateclothing.com/
We did one run in China Bowl and one in Siberia Bowl before heading to Blue Sky and with the guidance of Uncle Louie we found very soft, light and mid-winter type powder about 6" deep
Next was off to Blue Sky where Madmike took us down Steep & Deep and Skree Field and the snow was fresh or lightly tracked about 8-10" deep and absolutely fabulous
At the bottom is a fairly long low angle run out through perfectly spaced trees which in todays snow was a riot to ski in. Hoots and hollers from everyone as it was THAT good
: Props to Madmike for showing us the way.
We followed that with another great run in great snow through Champagne Glade and as expected Uncle Louie led the way
One more run through Skree Field and the trees then it was off to Two Elk for lunch. We kind of dispersed after lunch as I went to ski with the wife and most of the others headed back to Blue Sky
After guiding the wife down the catwalks to the base of the Vista Bahn, I went back up for one more and skied(got down) some excellent soft bumps on Giant Steps and Head First which I hadn't done before
Another most Excellent day that will be filed with all the other most excellent days I've had with the EpicSki crowd
to Uncle Louie for his always excellent guiding and Madmike for showing us a couple spots even UL hadn't been in before.
Now for the only pics I was able to get as my battery was mostly dead and wouldn't allow more than one pic(if any) to be taken at a time.
The morning gang consisting of SKI3PO, Uncle Louie, Dave, Madmike, Vince, Annie, Michelle, KlKaye, at_nyc, Tiffany and COSkigirl
