Luxury Inn in Silverthorne for $75.
Very basic, but clean and should do. There are many other Days Inn type hotels in the area and if you check their websites you might get lucky.
Looking forward to meeting you.
Here is everything I can think of about tickets.
The best deal is obviously free vouchers or 1/2 price vouchers available from area employees. Copper has always been pretty easy for the LGC crowd, seldom does anyone pay more than 1/2 price. I have a bunch of contacts at Breckenridge, but getting those vouchers in advance is tough.
Reciprocity letters from your ski area (full and part time pros) work if your area is open (hint hint). Some areas give you one day....some up to 3 days.....free tickets. Some areas will keep your letter, so bring a supply.
Vail does not honor the above mentioned letter, but does offer a decent PSIA discount. All areas offer a PSIA discount, usually 50%.
I do not know at this point the status of the "Spring Back to Vail" discount which usually happens the second week of LGC IV. IF....IF they go on sale expect a rate at any Vail Resort area of @ $ 20 a day, all available on a multi day pass.
Ski with a friend passes. Anybody with a Colorado or Buddy Pass gets 6 "ski with a friend" coupons loaded on their pass. You must go to the window with the pass holder on a daily basis to get the discount. I think they are $ 55 a day in the Spring, but may be a few bucks more at Vail/ BC.
We can get a Group rate at Loveland if there are 20 that need a day ticket. Perhaps at other areas too, but the organization can be nearly impossible.
The wild cards. There are Bears that suddenly manage to come up with ticket vouchers (paging VSP......Mr. Vertical...Chuck C.....hello....anybody home) It's hit and miss, but these guys have always come through with whatever is available.
Then of course there is King Soopers Grocery Stores (Denver) and a multitude of places right in Summit County. Try calling Pioneer Sports in Frisco to check prices. Travelocity and Expedia are possiblilties also.
Then there are the area connected web sites (not much of a discount)
Then.....the dreaded "Window Price:"
ok, just catching up on this thread and suddently there's all this pressure ...
UL says we're skiing hard and fast all damn day (thank god for the gym!)
Dookey and Trek: dag yo, that outfit is straight tripping! (what will I wear??)
I gotta wrestle with everyone for discount passes (ahem, that's two of us for Vail on the 5th and two at BC on the 6th)
I will say this ... for whatever I lack in style/stylie, I will make up for in BEER (and tight t-shirts!).
Bring your own lipgloss!
at_nyc - 3/29 - 4/7 (inclusive). Not sure where to stay yet. Looking for tips on place to crash, or any possible (girly) room share? Anything clean and quiet will do.
Mmmm... at $85 (+tax) for a barebone motel.
Well, if I can't find anything else...
You didn't think I meant $79 for the whole week did you Just kidding.
I've got a bit of an update for my participation on the 4th... If you're a hard-charger, you can ignore this post...
Good news: I'll be there with the entire family in tow... plus the entire Naftel family (some of you may remember Tim and Sabrina from ESAs at Big Sky and Snowbird). That's 10 of us!
Challenge #1: Gabe isn't really ready for blues, yet. I'm hoping that I can get him up onto Soliloquy, so others can ski the Timberline blues, but I won't know until Friday. Terry and I are discussing the possible options so that I can still guide a blue group for at least part of the day. Ideas welcome.
Challenge #2: With the entire family coming, it's very likely we'll be a bit behind our time getting to Jack's. I'm guessing 9:30 (yes, I know, that was jgiddyup's original plan and I goaded him into changing it. Serves me right!). A number of you have my mobile number. If you know you'll be there, please make sure I have yours.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all, and to introducing you to my wonderful and patient bride of almost 24 years and our three great kids. Although this has added complications, it's going to be a delight to get out and have fun with the families and the Bears...
