Forum re-organization

Thread Starter
The moderation and administration team have been working on a forum reorganization for over a year. The process was fraught with challenges, but we've made it through.

Tonight, as many of you sleep, I'll be updating the forum organization, changing some names a bit, and otherwise sprucing up the main forum page. Of course, we hope you all will like it. I am sure that some of you won't. However, the goal is to make it easier to find things, easier to figure out where to post your thoughts, and center the site on the community of EpicSki Barking Bears to an even greater degree.

Again, we hope you'll like it. I know you'll let us know what you think.

I am done with the reorganization. For those of you trying to keep up with it while I was doing it, my apologies. I'm sure it was confusing!

Please take a bit of time to look around before you draw your conclusions about this organization. One of our primary goals is to make it clear that the Community is the reason for EpicSki to exist, and the Community and its activities are foremost. Let us know what you think after you've had a chance to digest it, and we hope you like it.

I LOVE the new shuffle.
Very Logical Mr. Spock.
Kudos to all (and I am sure there were many thoughts inputs and discussions)!!!!

None of us is as smart as ALL of us! LLoyd Allard.

Putting the meet section at the top is something I've long desired. Thank you.

WAAAAYYYY COOL !!!! The "Lets Go" (tm) is right at the top of the Forums. (Note the little tm-----send check please)

I like the emphasis on community. I'll check out the rest in due time. Consider no comment as a positive. Thanks Steve.

Good job, Steve. I didn't even know there was a problem with the old ordering until I saw the new one!

It has a balanced look to it and I believe also that community is one of the nicest things about Epic. To see it first says something about us.

A small note of criticism I would like the see Beginner Zone appeal and take care of the needs of snowboarders as well as skiers as that was it's intention. The wording says that it is for skiers and that seems a bit exclusive. It's hard for us skiers to be as considerate of snowboarders, it seems, but I think it needs to be a priority also. As snowboarding techniques and equipment evolve and improve so will the instruction and movements become more into play in a learning environment. Epic can serve these folks as well if they care to.
Call us all riders of the snow and not just skiers and snowboarders. We are of the same stuff and our similarities are bigger than our differences.

GarryZ, thanks for the comments. The new organization segregates skiing a snowboarding by category, so the Beginner Forum had to go into one of them. As with General Ski Discussions, there can be posts about snowboarding in there, but I had to put it somewhere... I don't think I can make it show up in both categories, which would be ideal.

Thanks everyone for the wonderfully supportive comments! I am personally grateful that no one has taken me to the woodshed for the changes. : Thanks!

Well first off Steve, there are a lot of problems and things I'd like to complain about.

Nahhh, just kidding! :

Looks good!

Why would anyone take YOU to the woodshed?
As you said, it was a team effort and though many had their hands in it, a select few really worked diligently on it.
I'd like to personally thank Cirque and Phil for their extra effort. I don't think we could have made it through to get to the good ideas without those two guys.

Of course, trek. I didn't mean to imply what you read. It was a simple statement since I did the actual changes and made the announcement. The effort was a team effort, and this time around I did very little other than type in the commands.

So it's clear to everyone, the moderation team of Philpug, TrekChick, Cirquerider, Lars, Heluvaskier, Bob Peters, T-Square, BillA, and therusty do the vast majority of the work around here. They did the vast majority of the work on this reorganization with a bit of input from nolo and me.

If my statements implied anything else, I'm truly sorry. I am one of many who help around here, and I am grateful to all who are willing to put in so much for so little in return.

Thank you.

Very nice job, all of you. I like the new lay out, very user-friendly.

Nice Job, well organized.

Fine job maestro. It looks like a more logical arrangement.......not that there is anything logical about snowsport enthusiasts.

I take it that there isn't enough interest to have a Nordic section???
Excellent for early season training, balance, starting kids and adults on skis, cardio exercise, fun, etc, etc, etc. Cyclists and roller bladers ought to consider skate skiing.....or classic...... Another avenue to BC skiing, also.

Um.......no I didn't read something wrong. I'm blonde but not that blonde.
You said it was a team effort, in your first post which would invite all of us to the woodshed. That sounds more like a social gathering than anything else. Where's the party!?
psssst! They have a keg in the woodshed! See you there! Except that trekchick will bring her purified bottled water.

OK, SSH and team - good work. The word is "Community".

I like the way you think Oboe! I am, after all, the designated driver, and luggage retriever, huh?

Sorry to ruin the luvfest here.

Here's my feedback. I, personally, don't care to read all the equipment reviews (or even have to look at them). Under the old organization, I could just minimize that section. Now, they're spread all over, hence no way to hide them all together. (On the forums page)

Someone get another keg for the woodshed party!

As always we like to feel the slap on the back more than the kick in the pants, but all feed back is important.
icanseeformiles, icanseeyourpoint.

Okay, so I'm not as funny as I think I am.

Seriously, we are trying to make improvements for the community over all and hope you don't stub your toe on stuff thats been moved.

Any chance we could break boots out into a separate forum?

We tried to keep all skiing related together. I wouldn't be suprised, if a future version of the software will allow the used to mimimize section by section.

I don't think we are there...yet. Maybe some time in the future, there will be enough boot traffic to separate from gear, but then the skis will get jealous, andy you know how spiteful bindings can get. We could see a full scale revolt from them, releasing boots just on a whim. Need I go on?
