buz, you could do the hike/walk to Blue Lakes, south of Breck -- I know there's a 4wd road, but not sure how far up it goes. When I hiked/walked, we were turned around before Upper Blue Lake due to deep snow. Quandary Peak seems too long for you. Eagles Nest Wilderness has lots of trails -- you can get to it from either of the Frisco exits, or from the western end of the Wildernest neighborhood in Silverthorne. Eccles Pass is a great one -- steep in the beginning, but great views at the end -- ~10 miles r/t, 2,700' vert. You can't really go wrong anywhere in the Gore Range in my opinion. You can also pick up the Colorado Trail at Gold Hill (between Breck & Frisco) -- can't really say much since I haven't been on that part of it. You could also drive up to Loveland Pass and hike either ridge. You could also access Guller Gulch to Searle Pass from Copper.
Harry, is the 1,500 vert enroute to Eaglesmere Lakes uniform or it is steep in spots? I'm asking because I'm planning to go on my first hike since my ACL surgery a few months ago, and want something mellow to start out with. Going down stairs is still a little iffy, so I'm wary of steep pitches (hence I'm crossing out Eccles Pass).
