I'm a data hound. My family thinks I'm nuts. I have days and vertical feet, runs, falls, weather, etc. back to 1989. When my daughter competed in gymnastics and ski racing, I tracked all those stats too, along with those of her peers. And I download it all to my Palm Pilot as well. It's more fun than dusting, what can I say?

An interesting bell-shaped curve is forming with the median at 41-50 days (and of course the epic ski bump at greater than 100 days as expected!) I wonder what this curve would look like if you took this poll from just Ski Magazine readers??

Isn't the industry average around 8 days?

Median looks more like 40 days to me (80 votes below, 81 above). It's still a lot better than most groupings would have.

Ski Days

Jer, actually kept a ski diary for 06-07 season. First time I ever have done this and probably never do again. Thought it my be fun to look back at some day when I'm really old.

52 days, mainly at Mammoth and the Summit areas of CO.

About 12 before my injuries (tibia plateau fracture and broken ankle) and about 40 after. Well below our normal # of days due to poor snow conditions at Mammoth and to having to heal. :

Hey skibum---you're up in Mammoth as much as I am, how come I've never seen you there?

145 days last year ... 90% at Winter Park Resort in Colorado, a couple days at Copper Mountain, and a handful in the Berthoud Pass Backcountry.

This season I'm shooting for 160

all in all a great year, sometimes I could only go a few hours at a time. I live ~10min away from a ski area :

This was my worst year ever in 30+ years.
I was skiing in Tahoe at end of January -no snow in 30 days.

On my 3rd day out I broke my leg (near ankle) at Kirkwood.

Ist major ski injury Ever..

3 days instead of the usual 30

No earlier in the year skiing because of a complete meltdown
along the east coast the entire month of January. 80 degrees
for several days at my house in MD.

That's wht I'll never travel across the equator for skiing again, too confusing.
I agree - I am confused. I think that because it was my first year of serious skiing I am counting everything. I think that once I become more resident in the NH I will run Oct to Oct and leave it at that.

Even on that basis (Apr - Apr) 155 ish ski days is still a pretty good effort.
