2008 Salomon Gun Grapics... Yikes!

The Gun has gone Goth? I think it's ugly... yea... they're ugly sticks!
http://global.skipass.com/gearguide/...omon/Gun-.html

I have two pair of PR's and love them. But if I wanted to go Gun, I would get last year or maybe next year.... or re-paint the skis.

So, what gives? Is Solly trying to kill that stupid blue noodle rep? Like these are cool, mean skis? Do you have to look like Alice Cooper to ski them?

'course I'm old and just don't get it.

Just watch... goodby noodle image... hello rad.

Seems that's the trend when you look at all the twins for 08. But yeah, I agree the new gun gfx are pretty ugh!

I never thought I'd let the graphix of a ski weigh heavily on a purchase, but after seeing the Elan Free Spice, I changed my mind.
I think I could really like that ski but the graphix are atrocious

This 2008 crop of skis reminds me of when "Dog Vomit" neck ties were supposedly popular in the eighties.

Why can't they put something nice on the new skis like celtic art or a picture of Paris Hilton?

What amazes me is that a ski mfgr can have so many skis with awesome graphix, and some that seem almost disturbing.
Heh! Maybe its just my age and yen for classic designs.

For instance, I posted the Elan Free spice. The Elan 888, the Free spice Unisex counterpart looks like this, which is one of the most classic, sharp graphix I've seen.

The Wave spice, is another one of their skis that really grabs me:

I think it looks great- much better than the last two years, which were just plain boring. You want to talk ugly skis, let's look at the 07-08 Rossi lineup or Volkl's carving skis.

I agree that the guns looked boring this last year. I thought the cut of the tip looked a little strange, like they couldn't decide between old style or rounded, so they clipped the sides of a rounded tip.

Rossi's: Here is my candidate for strange... how would you like to pay $700 for these beauties, Rossignol Scratch Steeze 2008: http://global.skipass.com/gearguide/...ch-Steeze.html

I thought the Volkl's basically looked ok... except this one. Looks like dog vomit topped with tossed salad. Völkl Wall 2008:

Hey, I don't like being too negative. At least all these skis don't all look the same. However, I am a fan of the pr/gun.... just hated to see it go weird.

Gee, I kinda liked them (and i'm old). Quothe the Raven, "Never More!"

I picked up a pair of Solomon Scarlets (women's graphic version of the Gun) at the end of last season and love them and glad I did as this season's Scarlet graphic is yuk and I got a great deal on the '07 skis. However, I love this year's graphic on the Solomon Mynx (twin tip park ski) which I plan to purchase this Fall. My favorite '08 graphic, however, is the girls' K2 Missy which I'm going to pick up for my soon to be 11 year old daughter who needs a new set of skis.... I wasn't crazy about Volkl's graphic for their '08 Attiva line.

Oy, I'm such a girl!
Yeah, I like the new gun graphics much better than the old one. One ski I'm really interested in trying out, but can't stand the graphics of, is the Volkl Bridge: http://global.skipass.com/gearguide/...kl/Bridge.html
post #11 of 25
I happen to think the Salomon Siam Origin, the white one with the purple orchids on it is about the prettiest ski around. Of course it's a chick's ski.

My least favorite graphic, anything with guns or anything else violent. If I had a pair of K2 Public Enemy, I'd spray paint them a solid color and the stencil "Make Snow, Not War" on them.

Hope the link works. I bought the shirt for my husband (a snowboarder) last Winter and he loves it.

The initially linked site: "If you are all about living the extreme".

Obviously you lot just aren't eXtreme enough heh.

Meh, just get out the white paint.

They look pretty cool to me. I guess its a youth thing, haha. I don' like the '08 Rossignol Ghettos though, at least not from what I've seen at SkiPass.com.

these are what I am rockin next year, I am sure tons of people will hate the graphic, but whatever its skis great.

The guns are actually really good, simplistic design. I hate the steezes way to bright for me but love the collage that is the bridge.

If you want really offensive go with thse skis.

Im have not been a kid for some time (though that's debatable) at 36 but I like all the crazy graphics. However being speed demon and wanna-be racer, I do prefer to have my gear look all business and like weapons rather than wall decorations.

Hey what are the dimensions on those skis (the first pair)? I like the look of them.

Also, while we're on the subject of women on skis, any one seen the Jon Olsson Pro Model (Head)? They look so hot, not just the girl but the colour scheme too. They're light as crazy but apparently flimsy.

I guess they figure all the old guys got their skis... so let's appeal to the fifteen year olds.... However, God bless those who like this graphic. I am sure it fills some kind of need.... I just can't wait to see some of the new graphics on the slopes.

Count me in as another fan of the 2008 Gun graphic. I'm not sure why you feel they are designed for 15 year olds. No, they don't look like a good fit for an old, slow skier, but if you're an old skier who rips, why not?
I like these guys. But that's just me.:

I'm all for great graphics for all ages and both genders.

Here are some of my favorites (for "kid" girls like my daughters and "grown-up" girls like me):

That is the '08 Missy twin tip by K-2 for girls. I'm going to buy this ski for my daughter who will turn 11 in September.

That is the '08 Solomon Mynx women's twin tip that I plan to purchase for myself for this season.

And that is the '07 Solomon Scarlet twin powder ski that I picked up at a great price at the end of last season. The other ski is black with some matching graphics. They are a great looking pair of skis, even better in person. Can't wait to try them out.

Damn they sexy!

Anyone skied Moment skis before? Apparently they're good.

Oh yeah,

My friend went skiing with the owners of Moment and they're old, but they can definitely shred. Moment are more of a "newschool" company, but the owners definitely know what they're doing. They know how to appeal to the modern market.
