What a pain in the *** ain't I?
Early in the game it was great, we skiied all over every weekend. We knew all the cheap places to stay and copped lots of lift ticket discounts from the counter at McDonlds; the manager said to take a pile cause no one else was taking them.
We slept on lumpy beds at the "Clover Lodge" at Hunter, where $15 a night came with an all you can eat breakfast of toast & eggs (meat, you want meat go somewhere else
sayeth the owner), life was good.
Later in the game ...
I start teaching and one kid starts racing. It became a job. With teaching we had no tiime together and he wanted to be with his friends on the race team .... so wife was left alone a few times or I was working one end of the race or the other.
And actually, truth be told, a less than warm reception by a few of the race parents drove the nail in the coffin. I set her up in the race room "parent reserved area" and went off to teach. She came back after a few runs alone and found her gear had been moved. When she tried to introduce herself, she was screamed at that she was in a "private area" yada, yada. .... I found her out in the car in tears.
Shawnee Witches ...
Sadly, that was pretty much the end of her skiing for the most part.
